The Appeal

Built to celebrate fifty years of the Corvette’s production, the Anniversary Edition took the 5.7 litre C5 iteration and added all the toys, including a head-up display, the snappily-named as the “F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control Suspension”, and a Targa roof. They were all painted with a custom shade of red (“Anniversary Red”, as you ask), shod with bespoke wheels and came with a Shale leather interior with embroidered logos and a smattering of badges.
The C5 offers thumping performance and affordable tunability, while the high spec, unique paintwork and Anniversary-branded extras make this special edition highly sought after. This example has been very lightly used, particularly of late and, having been recently fully recommissioned, is ready to be enjoyed.

  • 6 May 2008, 13,910km
  • 21 Oct 2009, 15,009km

The Condition

  • Anniversary Red paint and special edition white gold wheels
  • Anniversary-branded car cover
  • Excellent condition
  • Targa top with Anniversary-branded cloth cover
  • Car cover and jacket also with Anniversary logos
  • Shale grey and cream leather with embroidered anniversary logo on headrests
  • Excellent condition throughout
  • Upgraded Alpine head unit with navigation and remote control and boot-mounted CD changer
While a C5 Corvette probably isn’t for shrinking violets, the Anniversary specification does provide one of the more subtle and desirable colour combinations and the pairing of the metallic red with white gold wheels lends the car an upmarket feel.

Here, the paintwork is in fine fettle with just a few small age-related marks including a small scratch to the front spoiler but the badges, trims and lights are all in great condition and the overall impression is of a very well cared-for car. The inclusion of pop up headlights also adds significantly to the cool factor in our view.
The wheels are unmarked and the tyres look in good order, The underside of the car is also reported to be in excellent condition. In short, it’s about as good as you would expect on a car of its mileage and it certainly has the appearance of having spent most of its life under its bespoke cover.
Climbing aboard, there is a definite American feel to the cabin but the instrument panel reveals that this is a European-spec Corvette, with the speedometer in km/h (reading up to 300! Though it’s good for 280km/h, according to the official figures) and the odometer showing just 20,000km have been covered.
As befits the low km-count, the seller reports that everything is in excellent condition with clean carpets and unmarked seats. All of the buttons, dials and switches operate as they should, including the uprated Alpine head unit which drives the Bose speakers and comes with all the manuals. The only negative point that the seller can find inside the car is that there is a screw cover missing off the rear of the driver’s door handle which speaks volumes for the rest of it.
The boot is clean and tidy and has stowage space for the Targa roof, though an Anniversary-branded cloth cover is also included for those days when you want the roof off and still want to fill the available storage space. There are rear parking sensors fitted and, although it’s not known if these are original, the installation is very neat and it works well.

The Mechanics

  • 5.7 litre LS1 V8 engine
  • Four-speed Automatic transmission
  • New battery
Lifting the bonnet reveals the beating heart of this all-American sports car in the form of the 350hp LS1 V8. The engine bay is very tidy and there are no signs of any leaks. With a fresh battery, it fires up first time with a classic V8 rumble and, while it cruises quietly, a mere blip of the throttle reveals its true potential.
The seller reports that the gearbox is very smooth, shifting cleanly up and down the gears and the brakes pull the car up well in a straight line. There are no untoward noises from the suspension which firms up nicely when switched from Tour to Sport mode. This car is ready to be enjoyed.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
€0 to €9,999 €100.00
€10,000 to €49,999 €250.00
€50,000 to €99,999 €500.00
€100,000 + €1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
