The Appeal

The 360 Modena was an era-defining car for Ferrari. As the first production Ferrari to feature all aluminium construction and an optional ‘F1’ paddleshift transmission, it began a period of significant technical accomplishments for the firm. It was also far more reliable and practical as an everyday car than any previous model from the prancing horse.
This beautiful example, first owned by Eric Clapton, comes with a comprehensive service history and very low mileage. Along with some excellent factory options and that achingly desirable manual transmission, it makes this not only a fine specimen, but a very collectible machine.

  • Current V5c present and correct

The Interior

  • Tan leather upholstery
  • Factory option leather roof lining
  • Upgraded sound system with Becker CD changer
  • Electric windows and door mirrors
  • Factory option satellite navigation
  • Air conditioning
The beautifully designed interior is in outstanding condition throughout, featuring tan leather, secondary black leather to the dash top, accompanied by deep claret carpets.
All of the leather upholstery, including the headlining, presents in excellent condition, with only very minor signs of any wear or age. We didn’t see any evidence of cracking, sagging or notable wear. The seats still hold their shape nicely, with firm bolstering. Likewise, the carpets appear to be in very good order, with no evident damage or staining.
The upper part of the dashboard is trimmed in black leather and looks to be in a very fine state, with no tears, UV damage or notable wear. Much the same can be said of the majority of the switchgear and controls. All of the instruments are legible and present well, with no warning lights showing on the binnacle.
There are some minor blemishes and signs of wear commensurate with the vehicle’s age and use in the usual places (some light scratches to door handle surrounds, buttons and air vents). But these are nothing that would concern us, overall the interior is in excellent condition.
At the front, the boot contains the original leather-cased Ferrari toolkit, complete with all of its tools, bulbs and fuses.

The Exterior

  • Factory Rosso Red paintwork
  • Original 5-spoke alloy wheels
  • Optional ‘Challenge’ grille at the rear
  • Scuderia wing shields
Presented with classic Rosso Red paintwork, this 360 looks to have been very well maintained and has clearly been carefully stored and pampered between each use.
Giving evidence of the incredibly low mileage, the paintwork and body panels appear to be in remarkably good order. Other than the usual handful of stone chips in the lower areas – such as where the sill meets the side skirts and around the lower wheel arches – the paint is generally very fine. There is no sign we could see of notable scratches, blemishes or corrosion.
So too, the body panels themselves show very well, clean and straight, evenly gapped and with no dents or damage we could see. Looking at the badges, trim and light lenses, all look to be correct and in excellent shape too, with no cracking or damage observed.
The wheels are the original 5-spoke 18” Ferrari items and are in superb, unmarked condition. They are shod in a matching set of Michelin Pilot Sport tyres which look to have very good levels of tread and appear in fine fettle.
Underneath, this handsome supercar presents in similarly good order. The floor panels and venturi appear to be undamaged and look very healthy for a 19 year old car. Similarly, all of the drivetrain elements we could see look to be in excellent condition, with no signs of damage, corrosion or significant wear that we could see.

The Mechanics

  • 3,586cc naturally aspirated V8
  • Rare 6 speed manual transmission
  • Excellent Ferrari service history
  • Aftermarket Tubi sports exhaust
  • Optional red brake callipers
The mechanical aspects of this vehicle are in exceptional condition having been meticulously maintained by Ferrari, with a record of regular servicing and the recommended 3-yearly cambelt changes. In fact, the cambelts were last changed in May 2021, offering the new owner real peace of mind.
In October of 2019 the front brake pads were changed, and the car has been driven very little since then. With a long MOT, unusually low mileage and such a good record of maintenance, this must be one of the best manual 360s in the country.
That DOHC 40-valve 3.6-litre V8 is a wonderfully vocal and free-revving unit, delivering a very healthy 395bhp and 373Nm to the rear wheels. Working in tandem with the rare manual transmission of this model and Ferrari’s patented CDC suspension system, it delivers a true supercar experience and the kind of razor sharp responses that the Maranello-based manufacturer is renowned for.

The Summary

All Ferraris are special - the prancing horse is, for many of us, the epitome of what makes cars so joyous. More than just machines, they have a character and personality all of their own.
And few cars are more characterful, or desirable, than a V8 Ferrari with a manual transmission. Rare, beautifully maintained, with an interesting history and presented in superb condition, this low mileage Modena is a perfect example of what makes performance cars so very addictive. Whoever has the honour of being the next custodian of this lovely vehicle, one thing is for sure, we don't think they’ll be disappointed…

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
