The Appeal
There are water-cooled 911s with more power and more gadgets, but for real-world driving, for a car that you can actually jump in and drive regularly, it’s widely recognised that the Carrera 2 is all the car the 911 enthusiast needs.
For that reason, there are plenty about. So finding one is not the issue. Finding a good one, one that presents well, is in the right specification and has been looked after, is another matter. We suspect we’ve solved that problem with this very tidy 2003 Carrera 2. Finished in popular Artic Silver with black leather and fitted with the later 3.6L flat six and a 6spd manual box, it ticks the spec boxes. It is also a ‘slick top’ sunroof delete model.
The car presents very well in photos, helped by a recent repaint to the front bumper, doors and sills. Inside it remains factory standard, including Porsche sound system, save for a Momo wheel.
OEM+ enhancements include M030 OEM dampers, H&R lowering springs, a 997 GT3 short shift kit, a Momo Prototipo steering wheel, and OZ Alleggerita 18" bronze wheels shod with Michelin PS4 tyres. The vendor describes the recently revised spring and damper set-up as making the car exciting, balanced and suitable for daily use. The original wheels and steering wheel are included should the new owner wish to revert to standard specification.
The history file is genuinely impressive for a car of this age. There is a run of near-continuous service stamps, totalling 17, from new to March 2026. All work has been undertaken either by main dealers or specialists like Zuffenhaus and Revolution. Crucially the IMS and RMS bearings were replaced by Revolution at 69,000 miles in 2016. The car comes with lengthy MOT showing no advisories.
Displaying low mileage for the year and clearly well looked after, this well-specified Carrera 2 looks like a canny buy.
The vendor says:
“OEM+ spec subtle enhancements made to improve fast on-road performance. Fantastic to drive. The recently revised spring and damper set up makes the car an exciting and balanced car that you can use daily. I have the original wheels and steering wheel if the new owner wants to change those back.”
