The Appeal
The final facelifted Phase 3 Spider was the last open-top Alfa Romeo to feature the firm’s sonorous, legendary Busso engine. Increased to 3.2L it is good for 240bhp and provides a firm, highly characterful riposte to all those German open top rivals.
These cars were produced in small numbers, so the arrival of this one for auction is very welcome. It adds to its appeal by being a low-mileage Japanese-market car that spent its life on the nation’s salt-free roads until 2025. It also benefited from Japan’s high maintenance standards, showing a run of regular servicing, including a cambelt change in 2022.
And then there is this car’s piece de resistance, its ultra-rare ‘Prugna’ purple metallic colour scheme. It is one of those beguiling colours that shows almost black in some lights, close to burgundy in others. It is paired with a dark red roof and tan leather interior.
The vendor tells us that the car comes to market with fresh service and MOT to December 2026. He is applying for UK registration so the car will be ready to go for its new keeper.
The vendor says:
“Very rare 3.2 Busso V6 Spider in a very rare colour. Low mileage with good history and completely rust-free.”
