The Appeal
Stylish, comfortable, versatile and built very well: these are some of the many attributes applied to BMW’s well regarded R1100S. For all those reasons, the standard bikes are increasingly collectable, but this one, the rare Boxer Cup Replika, is in much more rarified territory.
Just 1,100 were built as ‘race bikes for the road’ and, naturally, based on the Boxer Cup models. Each one got taller Ohlins sports suspension to enable better lean angles, a carbon fibre cylinder head protectors, Laser underseat pipes and quicker steering. Later bikes like this one got the larger 1,130cc engine that delivered even more power.
Given such rarity, this BCR properly stands out. It had covered just 11,328 miles in the hands of two registered keepers, the current one since 2009. It retains its many BCR features and is, as you would expect from such sparing use, in very good order.
The bike has covered just 10 miles since its last advisory-free MOT in 2021. It was serviced by BMW Ardens in March 2024, but will require a fresh MOT to be used on the road again. Once done, this promises a proper treat for the lucky buyer.
