The Appeal
The L322 Range Rover, developed during BMW's stewardship of the legendary marque, is arguably the definitive iteration of the much-loved 4x4. All of that Bavarian input must have had an effect, as this iteration seemed to really reach that idea of a 'go-anywhere, do-anything car'. Ruggedly built, with fold-flat rear seats, a split tailgate and boxy proportions, it remains as practical as it is characterful.
This example was first registered in October 2004 by Land Rover Mitaka in Tokyo, Japan, and was personally imported by the current owner - the sole UK registered keeper since September 2025. The decision to source from Japan was deliberate: UK L322s commonly suffer from rust on the wheel arches and underside, while Japan avoids it - they don't mess around with salt on their roads and offer much more in the way of preventative maintenance.
On arrival in the UK, a service was carried out including a new battery, replacement fuel pumps and a gearbox oil change. The vendor reports it sailed through its MOT without issue. The naturally aspirated 4.4-litre V8 retains a physical key and has no touch screens, making it one of the simpler early BMW-engined L322 examples - free from the complications of superchargers or turbos. Fewer than 300 miles have been covered under current ownership, and we understand that it's ready and waiting for its lucky new keeper. image.png1.72 MB
