The Appeal

It took a little while for 911 traditionalists to ‘get’ the 996, but that is definitely underway now. Few classic Porsches are quite as usable and versatile as the firm’s original water-cooled rear-engined masterpiece. Of the many specification variations available, it is the Carrera 4 with manual gearbox that is becoming particularly sought-after thanks to its planted and engaging drive.

This very tidy 3.6L 2004 996.2 manual gearbox Carrera 4 convertible is finished in the popular combination of Arctic Silver with Metropole Blue leather and is a very tidy example. It is largely standard save for a modern Pioneer touch screen head unit - the original is included. The history file shows regular attention by main dealers and specialists, with the last service in June 2026 by Unit 11 Porsche. We are told that the IMS bearing and RMS, key checks on these cars, were replaced at 78,000 miles. More recent work since 2024 has included new tyres and replacement brake discs and pads. The callipers have also been refurbished and finished in blue. There are also recent Design 911 invoices on file for a/c parts, harness kit and suspension components.

With a current advisory-free MOT to June 2027, this nicely specified and very tidy 996.2 seems to tick many buying boxes.
