Highlights
- Upgraded IMS bearing (2021); all-clear bore scope inspection certificate from 2022
- Desirable six-speed manual gearbox
- 11 service stamps in the book from main dealers and Porsche specialists
- Retro-fitted Sony touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
The Appeal
The first-generation 997 with the 3.6-litre flat-six and six-speed manual gearbox remains one of the most engaging ways to experience the 911. It strikes a compelling balance between analogue driving involvement and modern usability, and the manual transmission is increasingly sought after among enthusiasts.
This example comes with a reassuring history file and has had the model's two most common mechanical concerns addressed head-on: the IMS bearing was upgraded in 2021, while a bore scope inspection in 2022 returned an all-clear certificate. Both were carried out alongside clutch, rear main seal seal and coil pack changes.
The vendor states the car starts without issue every time, and pulls well on the open road. It has been dry-stored throughout current ownership and was used for a road trip to northern Italy via France and Switzerland, covering around 7,000 miles in total during this period. The specification includes Porsche Stability Management (PSM), cruise control, Alcantara headlining, electrically adjustable sports seats, a Bose sound system and SportDesign 19-inch wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres. A Design Tek stainless steel exhaust is the sole departure from factory standard. Offered with both original keys and an MOT valid until July 2026, this 997 presents well and appears ready to be enjoyed.
