The Appeal
At a glance, it would be easy to look at this Jaguar XKR and mistake it for an Aston Martin. Manufactured just a few months before the last XKR rolled off the Browns Lane production line, this vehicle has the Aston-look bumpers and a very similar design to Aston Martin’s timeless DB7. Yet many people believe the Jaguar, which follows the Aston Martin, is always a better car, and this glorious coupé is certainly a great example of British engineering and craftsmanship.
This XKR’s current keeper has owned the car on two separate occasions, describing it as “an absolute joy to drive”. The well-preserved walnut-and-leather interior shows minimal wear, with the door cards in particularly good condition. The only notable interior change from the original factory spec is the introduction of a smartphone-mirroring Apple CarPlay screen in lieu of the original (and rather dated) Jaguar DVD navigation screen, though this could be reinstated if desired. The Jaguar cassette player and Alpine speakers remain in situ, and there is only light wear on the automatic gearbox knob.
The current owner describes the body as being in excellent condition with no damage, and the Quartz Grey paintwork has been lovingly maintained around riveted 20-inch BBS wheels. Less visible areas are also well-preserved, with a solid underbody and an immaculate carpeted boot. The aftermarket Adamesh stainless exhaust system adds a burbling soundtrack, while the car is reported to be very reliable and is garaged when not in use to preserve its current condition. This has been achieved with a full service history, including 16 stamps from Jaguar main dealers or marque specialists. Last serviced 1,500 miles ago, just after the car passed the 100,000-mile mark, it will be sold with a folder of receipts and invoices along with the original collection of owner’s manuals.
