The Appeal
Classic Defenders tend to fall into two categories - workhorses and style statements. This TD5 90 Hard Top neatly straddles both - it is definitely built to use, but features some neat upgrades to improve the looks and usability.
Now finished in red following an older respray, it is in good order with recently fitted alloys and new BF Goodrich AT tyres. The hard-wearing cabin is in good condition for a 21-year-old vehicle and features six seats, including a pair of benches in the large load area.
The vendor tells us it began its life in a garage, then passed to a collector, from whom he acquired it in 2022. He has serviced and maintained it annually himself, including fitting the upgrades you see, plus a new wiper motor, nearside swivel and CV joints.
As a 2005 model, this TD5 benefits from various improvements to the 5-cylinder turbodiesel engine. It is robust and has clearly been looked after. Added reassurance is provided by the MOT, which runs to August 2026.
The vendor says:
“The car is great to drive, starts well and drives with no issues. I have enjoyed the robust feel as well as being able to go anywhere. It has also been very reliable under my ownership.”
