The Appeal
Widely regarded as the finest handling of all the MR2 generations, the W30 is a pretty and well balanced roadster. Offering sublime handling characteristics and a rev-hungry VVTi engine, it’s perfect for British B-roads.
However, this example is something really quite special. Incredibly well preserved in museum condition, it has less than 6,000 miles on the clock and features some choice upgrades. If you’re after the best MR2 in the country, this could well be it – it’s almost new old stock…
The History and Paperwork
- First registered in September 2005

The Interior
- Red leather sports seats and door card trim - the leather is in ‘nearly new’ condition, with no evidence we could see of any wear or damage
- Black leather steering wheel
- Black carpets with original carpet overmats and bespoke rubber mats for extra protection
- All the switchgear and driving controls are in superb condition, with no damage or notable wear to report
- Air conditioning

- Electric windows and door mirrors
- Factory CD/Radio sound system
- We’re told by the vendor that all of the car’s features function perfectly
- Spacesaver wheel, toolkit and jack have never been used
- Front luggage compartment in excellent condition
The Exterior
- Silver metallic paintwork presented in tremendously original condition with just one or two minor stone chips
- Black fabric roof with heated glass rear window – no tears, UV damage or sagging that we could see
- All of the bodywork is in very good condition, with no damage or corrosion to be seen
- Panels are straight and true, with factory gaps
- Grey bar behind seats in very good condition, with no scrapes or chips we could discern
- Factory-fitted 5-spoke 15” alloy wheels finished in dark silver
- Matching set of Hankook K125 tyres fitted in September 2021 – about 1,000 miles covered since
- Exceptionally clear and clean light lenses
- External trim and badging presented in excellent condition
- The underside of the car is in incredible condition for its age – you could genuinely be forgiven for thinking it was brand new and barely used
- Original plastic cover which fits under front bootlid will be included with the car.
The Mechanics
- 1,794cc 4-cylinder VVTi engine, mid-mounted and pushing 138bhp to the rear wheels
- The engine bay is presented in near immaculate condition, with no signs of leaks or overheating
- 6-speed manual transmission
- Lowering springs fitted, which drop the car by about ¾ inch
- Sports exhaust fitted, offering a more sporting note
- Grooved brake discs with uprated pads and uprated brake hoses
- Lightweight flywheel fitted for a more responsive throttle
- Front strut brace to aid steering response
- The vendor assures us that the car drives beautifully, with no mechanical issues, excellent stopping capacity and a light and positive gear change
Summary
The W30 has always been regarded as a fine little sports car, while Toyota’s reputation for reliable and rev-hungry engines certainly proved true in this case. Combined with the midship layout and excellent suspension, it made the MR2 one of the best driver’s cars of the 00s.
We’re sure this must be the finest example on the road outside of Toyota’s heritage collection. As close as we believe you’ll find to a new old stock MR2, it’s presented with incredibly low mileage, a fine MOT and service record and some choice upgrades. Sure to be a future classic, this is a great opportunity to put something amazing – and possibly with some investment potential – into your garage.
