• Flagship V8 GT
• Full service history and fresh MOT
• Fabulous condition

THE BACKGROUND

Introduced at the 2003 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, the BMW E63 6-Series was the third BMW to exhibit Chris Bangle’s controversial flame-sided styling language.
With slab sides and a high boot line, the 6-Series was offered as both a Coupé and a Convertible. It was developed off the platform of the E60 5-Series, but with a shorter chassis and wheelbase.
It may have been controversial at first, but the styling of the big BMW has aged exceptionally well. And today, it has the look of a car that still looks contemporary despite being almost two decades old.
It's a great car to drive, too. With very similar handling to the fantastic 5-Series and a range of high-performance engines, there was never a dull E63 to drive. But of all of them, this one is probably the best. It's a 650Ci, with a 4.8-litre V8 upfront developing 362bhp. Not as lairy as the insanely powerful M6, but a whole lot more usable on a day-to-day basis and plenty quick enough for most.
This one is particularly desirable. Not only is it a 650Ci and in the best colour of Diamond Black, but it also has a comprehensive main dealer service history, has had just one previous owner prior to the current registered keeper, and has covered less than 49,000 miles from new.

THE HISTORY

Supplied new by Benham BMW in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, the car spent most of its early life in Shropshire before being passed on to its second owner in Milton Keynes nine years ago.
It was maintained by BMW main dealerships all the way through to this year, when it was serviced just last month by a highly-regarded independent BMW specialist in Buckinghamshire.
Many of the details in the car’s paperwork refer to a cherished registration number, which was taken off the car before sale but the chassis number and keeper details prove that the documents relate to the same car.

THE PAPERWORK

The BMW comes with its original black leather service wallet, inside which are a selection of booklets including an owners’ manual, dealership guide, audio manual, sat nav manual and a service book.
The latter of these is stamped all the way through to 48,000 miles in November 2021 and the car has never missed a service.
It has sailed through its MOT every year without advisories and has benefited from a Full Service on the 19th November 2021 with the new MOT valid until December 2022 (no advisories, latest invoice pictured, for the total sum of £678)

The MOT history is truly exceptional as is the car and it has never, ever had any advisories. A true credit to the owner of the car.

The car was also fitted with 4 New Premium Tires fitted in November 2021 which have hardly been used, it has had all of the spark plugs replaced with premium ones and everything else you would expect with a full service.

This car wants and needs for nothing.

Also supplied in the car’s history file is its original pre-delivery inspection sheet from when it was delivered to the dealership new in 2006.

THE EXTERIOR

Diamond Black is one of BMW's most popular colours - and for a very good reason. It's a deep and gleaming shade and it works really well against the 650’s substantial bodywork.
The body itself is in great condition with no notable flaws. There are no dents or scratches and what minor paint imperfections it has are barely perceptible.
The 19-inch alloy wheels are all in excellent condition and equipped with good tyres, and all of the glass, lamp lenses and trim are in fine order. It's a really handsome car, and it sits ‘just right’ and stands out from the many tired and abused examples of the E 63 that you see these days. Indeed, it's in such good condition that it's very hard to believe that it's over 15 years old.

THE INTERIOR

The cabin is just as black as the exterior, giving the 650 a stealthy appearance. Much like the outside, the inside is in exceptional order with only the slightest signs of wear and certainly nothing but you tend to notice. It's a low mileage car and the interior clearly highlights this.
For example, there is no wear whatsoever to the driver’s side seat bolster, which is often damaged on these cars. The carpets and mats are excellent, too, as are the door cards.
The heated electric leather seats are multi-adjustable and the car benefits from LED puddle lights at the bottom of the mirrors to make sure you don't stand in anything unpleasant when getting in and out. There's also an M Sport steering wheel, which adds an extra dash of sportiness.
This one comes with an LCD head-up display projecting speed, sat nav instructions and other essential information to the driver directly onto the windscreen. It's operated by the BMW iDrive controller in the centre console, which also operates all of the menu screens in the car’s infotainment system.
Being a range-topping model, it also has a premium audio system with incredible bass and overall sound quality.

THE MECHANICS

The 4.8-litre V8 is an absolute gem and is one of the best engines that BMW produced in the 2000s, with just the right balance between refinement and excitement.
Drive it gently and it's a serene experience. Open it up, and all hell breaks loose, accompanied by a subtle but meaningful snarl from the twin exhaust system.
As you'd expect from a car with such an impeccable service history, it runs absolutely beautifully and performs without fault, while the vendor reports that the brakes, suspension and steering are all in excellent order.

THE APPEAL

Good examples of the E63 are getting harder and harder to find and there are many abused and tired high-mileage examples around.
This, however, isn't one of them. Indeed, it is the polar opposite. If you're looking for one of the absolute best E63 Coupés on the market right now, then you can stop looking right now because here it is.
It's a lovely, low-mileage car in impeccable condition throughout, and a pretty safe bet to become a future classic.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
