For over 40 years, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been regarded as one of the best – if not the very best – luxury cars in the world.
It’s an accolade that doesn’t come along without good reason, but it was well-earned by the W221, or fifth-generation, S-Class when it debuted in 2006.
With new flared-arch styling and an opulent, cossetting cabin, Mercedes-Benz’s luxury flagship was an executive car that was hard to match and today it still is, especially now you can get one for a fraction of what they cost to buy new.
This one is a lovely example – an S500 with the 5.5-litre V8 under the bonnet, lovely black leather trim and walnut veneers, making it a beautiful car to drive or be driven in.

SUMMARY
This is a glorious example of the W211 S-Class, in a strong colour scheme with a lovely interior and a good prior maintenance record. It’s a car that still exudes class and sophistication 17 years after it was built, and which still has the appearance of a high-end, grand and very expensive machine.
Once the greatest car in the world, the W221 S-Class is probably now the world’s greatest bargain. A huge amount of car for the money.
