The Appeal

For fans of the excellent R230 SL, 2006 is an important year because it was then that the car received a comprehensive facelift. Notable for tweaked aesthetics, it also signalled the introduction of the new and more powerful M272 3.5L V6 engine for the SL350 model.

This SL350 is an early facelift car and its 270bhp engine has covered less than 47,000 miles from new. Classically finished in popular Iridium Silver with a black leather cabin, it is a highly specified car that left the factory with over £6,000 of options, including Keyless Go and a panoramic glass roof.

The condition is impressive inside and out and the history file equally so. The stamped service book shows a run of attention, all by main dealers or specialists, to 45,250 miles in 2022, since when it has covered less than 1,500 miles. A new battery was fitted in March 2026. The current MOT runs to May 2027 with no advisories, and the test history shows very few advisories over the car’s 20-year life.

This is a really tidy R230 and as a later V6 provides most of the urge of the V8s but without the fuel penalties.
