The Appeal
In the early 1950s, Jaguar was quite literally unstoppable. Its slippery C-Type pounded up the Mulsanne Straight at up to 144mph, in the process pummelling factory cars from established names like Mercedes, Ferrari and Alfa Romeo into submission. Just 53 were left at the works, so it is no wonder that Realm’s well-respected and dimensionally accurate replica is so popular with dedicated enthusiasts.
This Realm C-Type was built by specialist TWR Replicas in 2005 to closely replicate the 1953 race-winning car of Duncan Hamilton and Tony Rolt. The photos prove the point - the BRG paintwork and white roundels are obvious nods, but it is the depth of attention to detail that makes this car so appealing. Enthusiasts will note the lack of carpets, the correct sound deadening on the transmission tunnel, the aero screens and the leather panel straps.
Beneath the bonnet, there is, of course, an XK engine, but in 4.2L displacement mated to a five-speed Toyota Supra gearbox. It was rebuilt in 2023 by XK guru Chris Forbes to Club Sport spec. The engine was carefully set up by Stanton Motor Sport on a rolling road. MOT records indicate it has covered around 3,000 miles since. Other notable work includes a brake overhaul two years ago. New Blockley tyres were fitted last year.
The car is correctly registered with the DVLA and carries SVA certification to ensure it is fully road legal. The MOT runs to May 2026. It has featured at shows including Silverstone, Goodwood and Castle Combe.
The car has been used and enjoyed, which, of course, we fully endorse. That means there are a few light marks to note, but nothing that couldn’t easily be rectified if the buyer wishes. This magnificent labour of love looks both fabulous and enormous fun.
The vendor says:
The car is a lovely drive and the only reason it is being sold is that I don’t use it enough !

If you didn’t have sight of this car’s V5C it feels easily to assume it is one of the 53 genuine factory cars. That’s a testament to the work of Trevor Williams at TWR Replicas and the depth of detail. We particularly like the adjustable aero screens, side exit exhaust, green leather bucket seats and the absence of carpets.
This is a car built to be enjoyed, and so it has been. That has resulted in a few marks and chips, such as where the bonnet meets the body, but nothing unsightly. They are signs of a well-loved car.

We’ve applauded the depth of detail applied to this C-Type’s cosmetics, and the same is true of the mechanicals. In place of the original’s 3.4L XK engine, there is a 4.2L Jaguar engine. It was rebuilt in 2023 by XK specialist Chris Forbes to what we are told is Club Sport specification featuring triple Webers. It was then tuned by Stanton Motor Sport on its rolling road. The gearbox is a 5spd Supra unit.
The car has covered few miles since all this work was done and is said to run and drive very well.
