The Appeal
Introduced as the open version of Bentley’s Continental GT, the Continental GTC brought a more indulgent dimension to the marque’s modern grand touring formula. Announced in 2005 and officially unveiled the following year, it joined the Continental GT and Flying Spur in defining Bentley’s new era under Volkswagen Group ownership, combining traditional Crewe craftsmanship with the performance, engineering depth and day-to-day usability expected of a contemporary luxury car.
For many, the GTC remains one of the most elegant interpretations of the first-generation Continental range. Its 2+2 layout, substantial fabric hood and beautifully appointed interior gave it genuine long-distance touring ability, while the 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine, automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system delivered the effortless pace for which the model became known.
A 2007 example therefore sits at an appealing point in the model’s history, offering the clean original styling of the early Continental GTC with the refinement, performance and sense of occasion that helped re-establish Bentley as a major force in the modern luxury grand touring market.
Presented in a sleek all-black colour combination, this Continental GTC has the understated presence expected of Bentley’s open grand tourer. It is also supported by an impressive MOT record, having passed each test at the first attempt. It should appeal to an enthusiast seeking an elegant and highly capable modern Bentley, equally suited to long-distance trips or occasional open-air cruising.
