The Appeal

Back when it was new, this British-built super-saloon would have set its original owner back over £120,000, making it one of the most expensive saloon cars in the world.

Based on the platform of the Continental GT and sharing its thumping 552bhp twin-turbocharged W12 engine, the Spur was Bentley’s luxury flagship, the second Bentley to be fully developed under the ownership of Volkswagen Group. Today, it has to be one of the most incredible luxury bargains going – finely engineered and opulently equipped, you can now enjoy the finest in motoring for a fraction of the original cost.

This one has to be one of the best Spurs on the market right now thanks to its minimal mileage, having covered just over 27,243 miles from new. If you want to try the absolute pinnacle of luxury motoring for size, here’s an incredible opportunity not to pass up.

As saloon cars go, the Bentley Flying Spur has to be up there with the very best in the world and this is a remarkable example, well-loved and scrupulously maintained throughout its life, with a comprehensive, documented history. It’s an incredible amount of car for the money.

The Condition

  • Cypress Grey Metallic

  • Seven-spoke 20-inch alloys
  • Unmarked load bay
  • Portland Beige diamond-weave leather with Beluga secondary hide
  • Dark walnut veneers
  • Excellent condition
  • Deep pile factory mats

Cypress Grey is one of the smartest colours for the Flying Spur and manages to hide the car’s enormous bulk quite cleverly, the rounded lines and discreet colour making it appear smaller in the photos than it is in the metal.

It’s in great condition, with no notable damage or deterioration to the car’s bodywork at all – it’s spotless, having been garaged all its life and kept free from any sun or tree sap damage. It also has bi-Xenon high visibility headlamps and LED rear lights. The 20-inch alloys are shod with quality Pirelli P-Zero rubber all-round.

Opulence is the name of the game inside, and inside the Flying Spur is every inch the luxury car you expect it to be. It has quilted Portland Beige leather seats and separate climate and audio controls for front and rear passengers. The climate control is still icy cold, too.

It’s supremely comfortable and sumptuously equipped, with an amazing list of standard specification including contrasting Beluga secondary hide, stitched in Mulliner spec, Bentley embroidered crested headrests, Beluga carpets, dark stained Burr Walnut premium veneer to fascia, upper door rim and front and rear console, a premium infotainment system incorporating DVD Satellite Navigation and hi-fi system, six-CD changer to glove compartment, Breitling clock, steering column mounted gearshift paddles, electronically-adjustable front seats with lumbar, massage, memory and heating settings, rear heated and massage seats, keyless entry and keyless ignition, telephone voice control, rear electric blind, glass slide and tilt sunroof, indented hide headlining, a four-Spoke, multi-function dual-tone leather steering wheel, drilled alloy pedals and deep-pile over mats.

The Mechanics

  • 6.0-litre W12
  • Impeccable service history
  • Drives beautifully

The Bentley’s 552bhp W12 engine, developed from two VW V6s, is an incredible feat of engineering and sounds like nothing else when you open it up, yet at idle it’s so refined that its barely audible. It has been serviced mostly by main dealers other than one inspection by a well-known independent Bentley specialist, so it’s no surprise to find that it runs beautifully with all the fluids at the prescribed levels and no untoward noises.

According to the vendor, the car performs faultlessly with no warning lights or known running issues, as you’d expect from such a well-cared-for, low-mileage car.
