The Appeal
Introduced at the 2003 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, the E63 6-series was a welcome return after a considerable hiatus from its predecessor, the E24 6-series. The 650i is one of the more powerful variants available, and is possibly one of the smartest GT’s out there. The 4.8-litre V8’s acceleration from 0-60 in 5.6 seconds is impressive, but the acceleration continues, getting you to 100mph in 11 seconds, glued to the road, thanks to its highly-tuned chassis, providing that well needed handling and responsiveness.
Not everyone was a fan of the new 6-series shape back in the day, scarily almost 20 years ago, but it appears to have stood the test of time rather well with its long sloping bonnet and sleek lines. There weren’t many fitted with a manual gearbox and the current owner originally spec’d this one out back in 2007 as the ultimate driving machine he had always wanted, opting for the full exclusive black leather cabin and the V8 engine coupled with the 6-speed gearbox. After enjoying it for 10 years, selling it was a decision he lived to regret, so much so that he hunted it down and bought it back last year.
The car has just been detailed, the front seats re-cushioned and the leather refurbished. Now due to age, his preference is for an automatic gearbox, so this one needs to find a new home, which given its rarity shouldn’t be difficult.

The Summary
While there are a few options if you’re searching for a V8 with a manual gearbox, they are very limited options indeed, and are likely to set you back considerable sums, assuming you can find them. Here is one such example in excellent condition, so good in fact that the owner bought it twice.
It has been brought back to its very best with considerable sums spent to attend to the niggly details that might otherwise put you off – we talk of the refurbished leather, the immaculate wheels, and of course, the soft-top, smoothly retracting in seconds to provide you with not only a truly engaging driving experience, but one you can do in luxury and with the wind in your hair.
