THE APPEAL

The BMW M5 is loved by petrolheads across the globe for various reasons. Its practicality, paired with bonkers performance, makes it the ideal daily driver and weekend car. Its subtle styling and wide hips make it pleasing to look at from all angles but, more importantly, the reason it’s loved by so many, is that it’s the first production saloon vehicle to play home to a whopping 5.0 V10 engine, something, which in this day and age is unheard of, especially in a car with five doors and ample boot space.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

  • First registered in 2007
  • Four former keepers
  • 53,240 miles
  • Recent MOT
  • 11 service stamps

THE INTERIOR

  • Electric sunroof
  • Electric memory seats
  • Head-up display
  • Marino leather upholstery
  • Individual Anthracite headlining
  • Multi-function steering wheel
The inside of this BMW M5 is in amazing condition, its status as a flagship model is reflected instantly. One opens the door and is greeted with three-way electric memory seats, heated seats, multi function steering wheel, Anthracite headlining and of course, an electric sunroof.
We could see no signs of damage to the aluminium brushed trim that surrounds the iDrive, gear selector and door-cards. The interior trim is presented really well with no signs of scratches or discolouration that maybe found in other examples. The Marino leather is still in fantastic condition too. The driver’s seat shows no signs of wear even on the bolsters and front cushion, where they are usually susceptible to damage. The passenger side and rear bench is very much the same, the leather looks great and doesn’t even look sat in. No marks or scratches to report. Very clean indeed.
Overall, the interior of this M5 is in excellent condition and one would be very hard pushed to tell that it is a 16 year old car.

THE EXTERIOR

  • Silverstone 2 metallic paintwork
  • Adaptive Xenon headlights
  • BMW M rear spoiler
  • 19” BMW 167M alloy wheels
Finished in a stunning Silverstone II paintwork, the BMW presents itself in exemplary condition with no signs of damage to the bodywork and no corrosion to be found anywhere on the vehicle. As is to be expected, there are some marks from stone chips on the bonnet but these are incredibly minor and you really have to look to see them.
The chrome trims placed around the vehicle are still looking just as they did back in 2007 and really highlight the essence of performance around this vehicle. The wheels and tyres represent the vehicle to its fullest standard with no curb rash or corrosion to report.

THE MECHANICS

  • 5.0 V10 engine
  • Eisenmann stainless steel backbox
  • Seven-speed SMG gearbox
  • Recently replaced rear diff seal
This BMW M5 is in great mechanical order. On opening the bonnet, it is apparent that the car has been looked after to no end with the engine bay presenting itself in the same fashion as the rest of the car, spotless.
The car runs and idles with absolute ease, the 5.0 V10 engine burbling over as smoothly as one would expect. The car was moved around on a few occasions and the gearbox functions smoothly with no crunching or grinding when selecting different drive modes. We are told that when the vehicle is driving, the gearbox works well as intended.

SUMMARY

This is very well kept example of a BMW M5. Over the 14 years since it was produced, it’s had four owners who have very obviously looked after this car and cared for it as if it was their own child. These M5s sometimes have a bad reputation for reliability but, that is only the case when they have been neglected, whereas this M5 has been cared for greatly with frequent oil changes ensuring that all the internals are kept working to their best.
These are fast becoming very desirable models. It is the only saloon that BMW went all out on and stuck a V10 engine in. As we move closer and closer to a world where the internal combustion engine is being replaced, cars like these are becoming a more sought after commodity and being snapped up fast.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
