・A low milage and immaculately presented Cube 3 in exclusive Autech trim
・A rare seven seat model providing a “tardis-like” level of space utilisation
・Complete with several of the sought after “JDM” quirky accessories
The Background
The Nissan Cube initially appeared in its first, Z10 guise in 1998. Also known as Nissan March in some markets the car was essentially a Micra with increased internal dimensions.
The MK2 or Z11 version, as offered here, appeared in 2002 and was larger, and considerably more stylish, again. The seven seat or “Cube 3” version as seen here followed a year later. The MK2s now had a slightly bigger 1,500cc HR Series which was a joint development between Nissan and Renault.
Sometime after this cars' build date these cars, which were never officially offered in the UK, built up an enthusiastic following here based on their rare combination of quirky style, extreme practicality and refinement. As a result a small but significant flow of personal imports were made to the UK BKGRN.jpeg3.31 MB
The History
This arrived in the UK in 2018 and was bought by its current owner in 2019. The owner had previously owned a Nissan Cube but was keen to enjoy the increased practicality offered by the seven seat Cube 3.
Since then it has been very well maintained and cared for with quite a modest number of miles being covered in its current ownership. The owner selected the car because of its low mileage and the level of authentic JDM (Japanese domestic market) features retained by the car.STRY.jpeg1.66 MB
The Paperwork
As the picture package shows there is a great level of reassurance-giving paperwork and provenance with this car. This includes invoices, MOT’s, import paperwork, DVLA paperwork and invoices. The UK V5 document is also on hand.PER.jpeg2.65 MB
The Interior
The owner describes his Cube 3 as “tardis-like” and that’s a great description. As can be seen from the photography package, with the seats down you essentially have a very rare and stylish van at your disposal! With the seats up you have room for five adults and two young children and, with a split-folding middle row, a great number of permutations in between.
The seats are currently covered with original, home market padded vinyl covers as originally came with the car. This has kept the original velour upholstery underneath in pristine condition (as photographed) and adds an extra level of useful durability.
The car also features some useful and interesting extras such as the keyless entry and the large multimedia unit in the centre console. Some of the authentic JDM touches that set this car apart from the norm include the home market specification warning flare (pictured), the optional air purifier (pictured) and the original carpet mat set, pedal and seat covers.NTR.jpeg2.34 MB
The Exterior
The exterior of the Nissan cube is already a stylish sight. This car, however, has some additional touches that really set it apart. The pearlescent white paintwork really lifts this car to another level and being an Autech version there are matt black alloys and extra chrome touches on the grill and rear of the car.EXTR.jpeg2.58 MB
The Mechanics
This car has a very smooth running and sewing-machine-like 1500cc petrol engine as used in the Nissan Tilda. The interesting feature of its application in the Cube is its warm tick-over of a mere 300rpm! It renders the car totally inaudible at tick over once you are in its capacious interior.
This model is also fitted with the JATCO XTRONIC-M6 CVT gearbox which gives it a very relaxed and refined drive.
The current owner attests to everything working as it should on the car and this includes all mechanical systems.MEKNK.jpeg1.6 MB
The Appeal
If, like many, you are fascinated by the Japanese car culture and all things JDM, then this Cube 3 can’t fail to pique your interest. It offers an unusual combination of a rarity, originality and quirky style, yet in a really practical and refined package.
The Cube 3 adds additional practicality to the mix with its third row of seats and the original and unusual features included here, not least the “cube” number plate should certainly catch the eye of enthusiasts and car lovers alike.
