The Appeal
When thinking of iconic sports cars, there are few cars that come to the forefront of one’s mind more so than the Porsche 911. The beautiful flowing lines, packaged with famed performance, dynamics and practicality, the 911 is the go to all rounder performance piece. The 997 variant of the 911, introduced in 2004, is quite possibly one of the finest 911’s, taking the successes of its 996 predecessor whilst boasting improved suspension, brakes and overall performance.
An introduction to the Porsche forecourt in late 2005 the Carrera S, such as the example presented here, boasted increased power output courtesy of an upgraded 3.8 litre 6 cylinder engine, alongside upgraded dynamic ability courtesy of Porsche's PASM active suspension management system.
The 997 went on to dominate the Porsche lineup until 2013, with many different variants of the model coming to market throughout that time. Whilst always respected in the sports car world, in recent years the 997 has gained all new levels of traction with both Porsche and general driving enthusiasts for both its style and dynamic ability.
997s such as this high specification, well maintained example present a brilliant opportunity to break into the booming and ever increasing Porsche 911 enthusiast market.

The Interior
Quality black leather upholstery
Factory electric sunroof
Presents in near factory fresh condition
Full black leather was specced on this 911 from the factory, and what a choice that was. Nearly every sculpted surface is draped in beautifully stitched leather upholstery. The cabin of a 911 is always a special place to be, but with the perfect interior colour choice, this one is truly something else.
The stylish body hugging seats up front are of an excellent standard, wonderful dark leather that is still rich and full of colour, they appear in incredibly original condition and bare very minimal, if any, wear. Yet another sign of the quality to which the car has been upheld. The smaller seats in the rear of the cabin mirror this great quality and look almost as if they haven’t been sat in in their 15 years on the road. The electronic seat mechanisms all work fully and with ease. It should however be noted that the passenger electric window switch is not currently functioning, however the window can still be opened and closed from the driver's door panel.
The leather dashboard with its flowing lines has been well preserved and as such is still in great order, the same can be said for the iconic 3 spoke leather steering wheel and sculpted centre console piece. The central entertainment screen and various switchgear that sits around it are all of a great standard and exhibit very little in the way of wear. Placed neatly at the bottom, we find the small unassuming button that controls the PASM electronic damping system fitted to the Carrera version of these 997s. Next to this is the button to operate the electronic rear spoiler which also functions fully.
Opening the front panel of the car, we find an excellently upholstered storage compartment. One should note that there is no spare wheel housed in this example.
The Exterior
Marvellous Slate Grey exterior paint scheme
Impeccable aesthetic condition
Great quality Porsche alloy wheels
Electronic spoiler and sunroof
When it comes to styling, Porsche always seems to hit it out of the park. Sporting a slightly wider stance, more classic styling cues and lacking the very much Marmite headlights placed on its predecessor the 997 was no exception to this adage.
With its brilliant Slate Grey exterior finish, this 911 looks absolutely marvellous from the outside. The paintwork has a wonderful shine to it and remains in great shape thanks to the incredibly high standards to which these cars were painted in the factory. Distinctly lacking in the wear one would expect of a car of this age, the 911 has borne the test of time brillianty.
The trim pieces, lights and glasswork are in clean highly presentable shape and sit neatly within the cars lines. Protruding from the back bumper, a set of factory fitted rear parking sensors can be seen. The sensors do their job well and function fully.
We find the car sitting on 4 excellent Porsche alloy wheels which very much set that car off and give it a far more modern stance and appearance. The wheels themselves are in good shape and present as such.
The Mechanics
Incredibly clean 3.8 6 cylinder engine
Presents in great clean mechanical order
Maintained to a high mechanical standard with regular specialist
Opening the rear panel, we find ourselves looking at a great example of Porsche’s glorious 3.8 litre 6 cylinder engine fitted to the carrera 997s. Thanks, largely due to its continual regular servicing, and its low mileage, the motor fires into life with ease, with an excellent tone being produced from the rear quad exhausts.
On the road, the Porsche is reported to provide an utterly excellent drive. Incredibly dynamic and rewarding, the mighty 6 cylinder paired to the silky smooth tiptronic automatic transmission is without a doubt a wonderful combination.
Mechanically, this 911 is in truly remarkable condition. Presenting with one of the cleanest engine bays seen on one of these cars, this is a 911, that certainly from a mechanical perspective, wants for nothing.
Summary
Looking at this 997, the term “all rounder” comes to mind. With this car, one has a genuinely useable and practical sports car that boasts unrivalled dynamic ability and great performance.
A low owner car with a great, up to date Porsche main dealer and Porsche specialist service history, this is one that can be enjoyed by its new owner right from the first moment of ownership.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
