The Appeal
The R32 arrived with the Mk4 but found its calling with the highly revered Mk5. The later car is widely regarded as one of the best Golfs ever built and one of the greatest hot hatches of all time. Where the GTI was zippy, the R32 was in an altogether different league, delivering supercar-esque handling and performance thanks to its 3.2L VR6 engine and 4Motion Haldex AWD system.
Good, well maintained examples are a rare find. This one has been enthusiast owned and, while it looks like a very well presented standard car, contains a few mechanical secrets that will appeal to aficionados.
Classically finished in dark metallic blue with black leather interior, it is in very good conditon and has clearly been looked after. The modifications include a Stage 1 remap with 270bhp and a quality Miltek exhaust system. It has been polybushed, features vented discs and forged induction kit.
The history file shows a run of 15 service stamps up to 113,262 miles - it is now on 116,612 miles - and recent servicing for the Haldex system and DSG gearbox.
This is a very good example of the irrepressible Mk5 R32, a point underlined by the long, advisory-free MOT.
The vendor says:
For the age and mileage the car is immaculate and I'd like to say a very good example of a future classic, sounds absolutely amazing too.
