The Appeal

The recent launch of AC’s Cobra GT is proof of the enduring appeal of that shape. It’s one of the most evocative in motoring history, which explains the popularity of Cobra replicas. The AK Sportcars kit is one of the best-regarded, dimensionally accurate recreations of the Shelby 427 with an agile chassis that can be specified with a range of engines.

This 2008 factory-built AK is fitted with Rover’s well-regarded 3.5L V8, which offers reliability and good parts supply. It is a very tidy car with a nice two-tone anodised grey and silver finish and less than 7,500 miles covered since completion by its four keepers.

The car is nicely detailed with a set of Hallibrand-style 17in alloys and some classic-look Autometer dials. It comes with a removable soft top and side screens and will be sold with a fresh 12-month MOT.
