The Appeal
What the factory started, R35 GTR enthusiasts complete. These cars are all about modification, but the trick is either doing it right or buying one that has been done right.
Step forward this 2008 GTR. If ‘done right’ took R35 form, it would surely look like this. The specification is immense, most of it completed in Japan using HKS parts, including a GT1000 kit. Further work by the enthusiast vendor, a high end supercar collector, has brought this remarkable car up to a level close to or at amongst the best available anywhere.
The specification is both extensive and mouthwatering. The current set up is running at 760-800bhp but R35 specialists SVM confirm it is capable of up to 1065bhp. Amongst the tasty features is a KW hydraulic suspension system - with useful push button lift - that cost £10,000 alone and £11,000 AP Racing Radical 2 brakes.
Beyond the mechanicals, the looks are similarly enhanced. The car is fitted with a bespoke carbon fibre body kit - this is not fibreglass wrapped in carbon, it is fully carbon. Only the doors and rear quarters are original, the rest of the car, including the whole of the front end, is made of the lightweight material.
The whole car was professionally wrapped three weeks ago in Midnight Blue, a beguiling colour that turns between dark blue and purple depending on the light. The roof and bonnet were left untouched and show the carbon finish.
Inside the custom-made theme continues with carbon fibre finish, Nismo dials and seats. There is extensive use of Alcantara with red stitching. There is even an up to date tablet system.
This car is a reflection of the hard work of specialists like HKS and SVM and the knowledge of its enthusiast keeper. It has covered just 19,959 miles from new and comes to market with the appropriate HKS plate and long, advisory-free MOT to February 2025.
If you know, you know. And we know you won’t want to miss this.

This 2008 GTR is recognisably a R35 but it’s a very, very long way from factory specification. Originally supplied in dark grey metallic, the vendor recently had it professionally wrapped in a beguiling shade called Midnight Blue. This finish changes from dark blue to purple depending on the light. Naturally, given how recently it was applied, it is in superb condition.
The wrap clothes a bespoke carbon fibre body kit that is, to say the least, extensive. It is proper carbon fibre weave throughout - not on a fibreglass base - and replaces the original bodywork for all areas except the rear wings and doors. A pillars, roof, bonnet, boot, bumpers and the whole front end are constructed from super lightweight carbon fibre. All the better to maximise the value of those visceral mechanicals.
The car sits on 21in Advan GT alloy wheels in very good condition. They cover - just - the vast brakes.
Inside the theme of exclusivity and bespoking continues. The eagled-eyed will spot an array of Nismo features including dials and high specification seats. Alcantara clothes virtually every other area including seats and door cards. There is a recent Tesla tablet fitted into the dashboard - the original factory unit can be easily refitted without modification. A high end stereo completes the picture.

Long MOT with no mechanical or running gear advisories
The standard R24 GTR is a great piece of kit. This car, however, is on an entirely different level. Modifying R35s is a common activity for owners - so much so that it could be said an unmodified R35 is merely a modified one that hasn’t been attended to yet.
The joy of owning these cars is that there is an army of highly skilled professionals on hand to guide your hand and do the work for you. The trick is doing it well.
This car had done it well. The work started in Japan where a HKS GT1000 kit was fitted using HKS parts. HKS offers crated and kit engines, the latter offering the chance to apply further bespoking. We have detailed this work above, but the summary is impressive: fully forged, bored out to 4.1L and capable of 1065bhp.
The vendor is a supercar collector with 20 cars, including several modified ones like this. He acquired the car in 2017 and has continued the process of improving and bespoking it. When it arrived in the UK last year it was modified by R35 specialist SVM to run effectively on UK fuels. This meant adjusting the level of tune to 800bhp, but we understand 1000bhp+ is achievable. This would require some modifications to the gearbox, which is currently rated up to 900bhp. Elsewhere there is a clever KW hydraulic suspension system, complete with hydraulic lift that can be operated quickly at the touch of a button. The AP Racing brakes are the largest available and cost £11,000 alone.
The vendor has not cut corners with this car. You can read about the recent SVM work above. It included a full health check, service and various new parts.
It is in top mechanical condition. The work has been done using the best quality parts fitted by the right specialists. Its very low mileage is a further tick in its favour. It comes to market with the further reassurance of a long, advisory-free MOT.
