The Appeal

Rolls-Royce’s design and engineering team sets its sights very high for its new convertible. So high, in fact, that the competition they assessed wasn’t other cars, it was yachts. The new car would channel the style of luxury boats whilst delivering a similarly cossetting and sumptuous experience.

Looking at this smart Woodland Green Phantom Drophead Coupe you clearly sense that they succeeded. The lines echo sleek motorboats while the interior, with its retro rear-hinged doors, evokes sun-dappled luxury lounging.

That is thanks to its V12 engine - in classic 6.75L displacement - and highly sophisticated suspension. The 6spd gearbox, which is designed to change up and down seamlessly, also plays its part.
