2009 - Jaguar - XKR 4.2 Convertible

HIGHLIGHTS

  • One owner from new
  • Low mileage
  • Well presented
  • 420bhp on tap

THE APPEAL

The Jaguar XKR was initially launched on the previous model in 1996 to replace the tiring XJS; like a breath of fresh air, the model was a welcomed addition to the Jaguar range, especially the R version with its supercharged V8. In 2005, the jaguar was again updated with a new model like the one we have here, the fantastic looking X150.

The XKR features the 4.2 litre supercharged V8 producing 420bhp. It's undoubtedly a car falling into the category of one of the best grand tourers made. A 2+2 seater with full leather, the well-specced Jaguar offers plenty of creature comforts to cater for most people and best of all; it's a convertible, perfect for the summer months. With the touch of the button, you can have the roof down and enjoy the soundtrack from the supercharged V8.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

  • Registration document is present
  • UK Registered 30th June 2009
  • Owner’s handbook
  • Full Service history with ten stamps
  • MOT valid until 11th March 2023
This lovely 2009 Jaguar XKR has been through the vendor's workshop and has been thoroughly checked over, giving it a clean bill of health and ready for the new custodian to take over the ownership. The car has covered approximately 400 miles since the MOT in March 2022.

THE INTERIOR

  • Full Black leather interior
  • Fully adjustable electric seats
  • Air conditioning
  • Excellent condition
Inside, as you expect from Jaguar, the fit and finish are excellent. Electrically adjustable seats hug you tightly through the twisty bits and are comfortable to enjoy a leisurely cruise down to the coast.
The seats are reported to be working correctly; finished in black leather, there is the odd crease mark as you would expect but in keeping with the age and mileage. The rear seat doesn't look to have had a lot of use in the past, and the door cards are in good order with no apparent scuffs or damage to be seen.
Again, the dashboard is in good order, with no scuffs to point out. The instruments operate correctly and have no warning lights displayed when the engine is running. The odometer shows a reading of 58,615 miles. The steering wheel is in good order with no wear to the buttons on either side, and mounted just behind are the F1 style paddles to change gear if you fancy a spot of spirited driving. In the centre of the dash the entertainment system has little if any wear to the buttons and delivering the sound are a full set of Alpine speakers.
The carpets look to be clean throughout the cabin, as is the headlining. Inside the boot is in the same condition with no issues to note.

THE EXTERIOR

  • Finished in Liquid Silver
  • 20” Alloy wheels
  • Bi-xenon headlights
  • Rear boot spoiler
Finished in Liquid silver, the XKR presents exceptionally well and certainly looks like the owner has taken care of the car. From the front, there are some small stone chips, as you would expect, but nothing excessive for the age of the vehicle. The bonnet aligns well with an even gap along each side. The headlights are in good order with no chips to the lenses or discolouration, as often seen with plastic lenses.
Looking down the flanks of the Jaguar, everything appears to be in good order with no dings or dents to mention, and the door shut lines look equal on each side. The windows look free from any noticeable scratches, and the trims and seals appear in good condition. The convertible roof operates as it should, going both up and down. There is a slight pull in the roof approximately 1cm long towards the front, but other than that, it is in excellent condition but would benefit from a deep clean.
Thanks to the parking sensors, the rear is free from any bumper scuffs. The light lenses are bright and clear with no cracks in them. The quad tailpipes are in good condition, with just a small amount of tarnishing that could be polished off. Fitted with 20” alloy wheels, these are in relatively good condition, but there are some minor kerb marks on each corner. The tyres have a good number of miles left on them.

THE MECHANICS

  • 4.2 litre supercharged
  • Six-speed automatic transmission
  • Enhanced computer active technology suspension (eCATS)
  • Fully active exhaust
It has a supercharged 4.2 litre V8 producing 420bhp, what a fantastic engine. This is reported to fire up as it should with no untoward noises coming from the engine bay.
The car has been well maintained, as you can see from the ten service stamps in the book. Still on low mileage at 58,615 miles, the Jaguar is going to make the perfect car for the next owner.
Fitted with the six-speed automatic gearbox, the car pulls strongly through the gears with no hesitation in changing up or down automatically or via the paddle shifters. The dinner plate size discs and R badged calipers bring the XKR to a halt as they should, with no juddering reported to be coming through the pedal.

SUMMARY

What a fantastic car for the money, a snip at what it cost new and still in excellent condition, having only one owner and covering just 58,615 miles from new. The car is well specced, as you can see, and has the desirable 4.2 litre supercharged V8.
The XKR is perfectly suited to a range of people with different driving styles; whether you want to be cruising along steadily or maybe more spirited driving using the paddle shift, there is something for everyone, and it won't disappoint.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
