The Defender name has been a staple of the 4x4 market for over 70 years thanks to a brilliantly simple and effective design. Since the release of the Defender in its redesigned frock, L316 generation models have become something of a sought-after vehicle as the motoring world tries its best to cling to the past.
This model, first registered in 2010 is the perfect antidote to the modern, more complicated version of the Defender. Its boxy shape is one that many people adore, and finished in dark green, it definitely looks the part.
Having had two owners from new and coming with an extensive service history, you don’t often see cars like this while visually, we struggle to see any worrying details in its condition.

The Interior
Very clean interior overall
County spec: Many extra options fitted from the factory
Hardy off-road ready interior
Land Rover Defenders are certainly not built with out-and-out luxury in mind. Famously, their interiors are designed so that after an afternoon’s trek in the mud, one can simply wipe the seats and dash clean before setting off home.
This is evident when seeing this 2010 model. Plastics cover much of the interior from the floor to the dashboard while the seats are fitted with perfectly presentable fabrics that get the job done.
That being said, this particular car comes in County specification adding several electric gadgets not seen on the majority of Defenders of this age. Electric windows and central locking headline while more comfortable seats and nicer trim than other versions make it a classier proposition.
Unfortunately, a tear can be seen in the passenger seat, though the current owner is providing a new set of seat covers with the vehicle. Bar some marks to the paint, the rear of the cabin looks in good shape.
The Exterior
Defender 90 styling looks good
Dark green paint in very good condition
Recently fitted BF Goodrich tyres
Outside, this 2010 Land Rover Defender looks great. The short-wheelbase size of the car is excellent for the UK’s small country lanes and there’s no denying it’s a shape that attracts people in flocks.
The car is coated in a dark green colour akin to British Racing Green which seems to be in fantastic condition aside from some slight marking around the door handles. All the badges also look great on the car from the Land Rover badges to the lights and the grille.
The plastics of the handles, mirrors and spare wheel cover, despite looking somewhat faded, are also seemingly in good condition.
As for the wheels, a few slight scuff marks don’t take away from their overall shine. They are fitted with BF Goodrich All Terrain tyres which have been recently replaced according to the owner.
Towards the back, under the spare wheel which sits proudly in its expected place, you’ll find a tow bar. Underneath, the chunky off-road capable chassis looks clean and we struggle to see any worrying signs of corrosion or damage.
The Mechanics
Ford Duratorq turbodiesel inline-4, 120hp
6-speed manual transmission, high and low range
The car drives perfectly
Sitting under the bonnet is the 2.4-litre turbodiesel inline-four. Pumping out 120hp and 360Nm of torque, this model is certainly up for any terrain thrown at it. In fact, with an excellent service history record and a very presentable engine bay, there don’t appear to be any signs of poor health.
Connected to the Ford Duratorq engine is a 6-speed manual transmission along with a high- and low-range transfer case. Once again, this 2010 Defender, just like all Defenders, is built to tackle the green lanes of rural Britain.
The owner informs us that the car drives as it should with no worrying noises or vibrations. It also supposedly starts and brakes as it did when it left the factory.
Summary
Visually and mechanically, this 2010 Land Rover Defender 90 is certainly a gorgeous example. In fact, its condition certainly doesn’t lead one to believe that it has spent several years as a farm shop delivery work horse.

About Max Bids
The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.
Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.
Anti-sniping
Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.
Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.
Auto-bidding increments
If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Automatically outbid immediately
When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.
You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.
Matching max bids
When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.
Pre-authorisation
We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.
What are pre-bids?
A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.
