The Appeal
Porsche's 987 Cayman was the second generation of their Boxster sports car format. Initially released in 2004 with production running until 2012, 2009 would see Porsche update the Cayman with version 987.2. Importantly, Porsche would fit the newer MA1.20 engine which did away with the intermediate shaft bearing from the previous engine, known to be its Achilles heel.
Displacement was also increased from 2.7L to 2.9L which gave for better power output as well as reliability. Being a hard top, torsional rigidity and thus handling are better over its soft top Boxster sibling. Furthermore, styling tweaks such as the front bumper and indicators differed between the two models. When configured with the manual gearbox, the 987.2 Cayman offers great refinement and a truly engaging driving experience, with ample but not excessive power, this is a supple sports car that can also be used daily!

The interior of this 987.2 Cayman remains in good condition overall, the Ocean Blue leather gives for a classy yet welcoming interior. Both front seats are in very good condition with only the driver’s seat side bolster showing some signs of wear, however, both seats are free from any rips or tears. This Cayman was thoughtfully configured with a Bose sound system from new as well as hands free buttons present on the steering wheel.
The headlining is present, secure and in very good condition. Blue carpets are present throughout and remain in fair to good condition, there is some staining present in the rear boot. It appears that the parcel shelf cover has partially broken but still remains attached.
The dashboard plastics and leather both remain in very good condition with some signs of wear present around more often used switchgear, in expectance with the age and mileage. Being a Cayman there is adequate storage space in both the front and rear boot with the front also holding a tyre sealing kit in the event of a puncture.

Presented in Carrera White, this Cayman has no trouble catching your eye, especially in combination with the gorgeous 19-inch 911 Turbo II alloys. The current owner reports he recently had the alloys reconditioned and similarly to the paint, they remain in excellent condition.
There are very few imperfections to the paint work, namely a few small chips to the front bumper, some slight wear around the door sills and handles as well as a small scuff to the rear nearside wheel arch. The deployable wing functions as expected and really helps to lift the silhouette of this sleek coupé.
This example possesses non-matching tyres all with fair tread but the front Falken tyres are not N-rated tyres, as per the vehicle health inspection report in the paperwork. The glass, badges and brightwork all remain in very good condition, furthermore, there are fog lights present within the front bumper. The headlight lenses are starting to fog slightly but shouldn't have a noticeable effect on functionality.

For many, Porsche's are more desirable when configured with a manual gearbox. The rear-wheel drive coupé format lends itself perfectly to offer a true driver’s car. This being the later 987.2 model means a more reliable engine than its predecessor with slightly larger displacement and thus power.
The current owner has ensured this vehicle only be serviced at Cridfords, where they purchased the car from with the last service being carried out on 16/09/2021 at 51,336 miles. The service history shows regular servicing carried out by the current owner, additionally in 2019, the passenger seat received a child seat preparation kit. This meant a switch was installed to turn of the passenger airbag, causing the air bag warning light to be illuminated on the dashboard.
There are 2 vehicle health check reports included with the vehicle from Cridfords highlighting areas that may require some work in future, namely the air conditioning system and exhaust flange nuts. A stamped service book is present with this example showing servicing since new with new spark plugs also fitted in 2019. Finally, the underside of this Cayman remains in a good, used condition.

This 2010 Cayman 987.2 has been tastefully configured from new, very well looked after and therefore remains in very good condition. The clean exterior gives for a wonderful yet compact road presence with a well-equipped interior meaning occupants can enjoy the journey without compromise.
