The Appeal
Stylish, supremely comfortable and with turbine-assisted urge, the ‘New Generation’ Saab 9-5 was the most advanced car that the firm had ever built and, as it has turned out, the last one it offered us too. Looking at this well-kept, low-mileage V6 Aero, it’s hard not to feel sad at what we’re now missing.
The NG was only available briefly so is a very rare find. It’s a well-regarded car, too, offering a level of exclusivity, comfort, and performance not fully matched by any of its rivals. This car is said to be one of just 47 carrying its specification and colour combination. That includes 300bhp 2.8L turbocharged V6, AWD system and an array of ‘Aero’ sporting and luxury features.
The vendor is a Saab enthusiast and only the car’s third keeper. He acquired it in 2022 and has continued the theme of entrusting maintenance and servicing to a marque specialist. In recent years this has been Saabtech, who we’re told has undertaken annual servicing, most recently in September 2025. There is also a long list of other work, including new front and rear pads and discs, rear callipers and springs and new wheel bearings. The XWD system was serviced in 2025. You can peruse the invoices in the photos. The current MOT runs to October 2026.
Spacious, extremely comfortable and very quick, this 9-5 is a stylish and tasteful alternative to more common BMW, Audi, Jaguar and Mercedes alternatives.
The vendor says:
“I love the rarity of the Saab, 1 of 47 apparently, the timeless styling which disguises its size (5 Meters long!) It drives really well with plenty of grip from the XWD system, it laughs in the face of snow. It's comfortable, quick when it needs to be and has plenty of options fitted; Sat-Nav, HUD, Memory driver's seat, 10Gb music storage. It is a great car to waft about in whether on a daily drive to work or a long journey. I have driven 23 thousand miles in this fabulous vehicle and enjoyed every one of them.”
