The Appeal

Described by none other than Evo magazine as possessing ‘epic power,’ the 500bhp Azure T was the final flourish for a very traditional, hand-built type of Bentley. Just 80 left the factory, of which only 24 were RHD cars like this one. It is likely one of the last registered.

It is magnificent, a paean to the coachbuilding art from its sleek lines to its bespoke tooled interior. The Flying Fountain Blue metallic paintwork combines with a two-tone dark blue and cream interior, all in the sort of condition you would expect of such a high-quality car with just 17,000 miles on the clock.

These cars cost £245,000 new, even more when specified as this one is with features like the Naim high end stereo. It comes to market with full service history - there are 10 stamps from main dealers and specialists. The MOT history is similarly illustrious with no advisories throughout its life. The current test runs to August 2024.

Opportunities to acquire the ultimate evocation of Bentley’s hand-built era do not come along often. And this low mileage, highly cared for car is one of the best.

The sleek lines of the standard Azure were upgraded for the T, the car gaining a fresher, more modern look with purposeful detailing including front wing vents and bumper and radiator grille mesh.

The Flying Fountain Blue metallic of this car complements these lines, particularly when married to the dark blue roof and two-tone blue and cream interior of this car. Throughout the exterior and interior it presents as new, reflecting the low miles and owners.

The interior is a particular delight, a symphony of hand-crafted fittings from the quilted leather cream seats, hand-stitched two-tone leather dashboard and beautifully finished veneers. This car has the upgraded Naim stereo system and a Bentley mobile phone.

The Azure T may evoke gentle, relaxing cruising along sun-dappled boulevards, but this is a car of two characters. It is perfectly suited to such cossetting progress. But, should the conditions require it, the driver can unleash the car’s supercar side.

The venerable Bentley V8 is equipped with twin turbos, sufficient to deliver 500bhp and despatch the 60 spring in the low seconds. Contemporary reviewers described the performance as epic. The car’s surprises don’t end there: the Aure T was equally capable in the bends, revealing an engaging and surprisingly nimble chassis.

Of course, this car is more about knowing that performance is there, rather than regularly or even ever accessing it. Certainly this example appears never to have been driven that way. That sense is supported by the exceptionally low mileage and run of 10 service stamps. All the work has been done irrespective of mileage and by main dealers and specialists.
