The Appeal
The F149 California rejuvenated the evocative themes of the original 250 GT and 365 Californias and it was - and is - brilliant. Yet the 2012 ‘30’ model made it even better because it was more powerful and lighter too.
Less than 2,900 were built and few of those were UK-market RHD cars like this one. Its black metallic paintwork is a subtle alternative to more common reds, particularly when mated to the Cuoio ‘Daytona’ tan leather seats.
The vendor acquired this car in 2014 and has treated it very well. That he has returned it annually to the supplying dealer, H R Owen, for servicing and maintenance indicates his fastidious approach. The car, therefore, carries a full service history, most recently in late July 2025. The rear shock absorbers and springs were replaced in August. The alloys have also been refurbished recently and fitted with new quality Michelin tyres. The MOT runs to August 2026 with no advisories.
The California is the Ferrari GT for all weathers and the elevated 30 is the one you really want. This car has the provenance, specification, condition and maintenance to really stand out.

We’re a fan of any classically red Ferrari, but this handsome car is a timely reminder that more subtle shades perfectly suit the more subtle lines of the firm’s front-ended GTs. The black paintwork is matched to a gorgeous Cuoio tan leather interior.
Inside and out the car is in a very high state of preservation. That is a testament to the current long-term keeper’s meticulous approach and care. The paintwork and interior look like they belong to a much younger car. The specification includes desirable ‘Daytona’ seats with electric operation and memory plus carbon trim highlights.
Little details like the recently refurbished alloys and new tyres mean that the car arrives with the buyer ready to use with little or nothing to do.
The Mechanics
- 4,297cc F136 V8 engine
- 7spd automatic gearbox with sequential shift options
- Full service history by supplying dealer H R Owen
- Last serviced in July 2025
- Rear shock absorbers and springs replaced in August 2025
- Reported to be in fine working order
- No advisories on current MOT
From 2012 the ‘30’ got lighter (by 30kg) and its 4.3L V8 got more power, which dropped the 60 dash below 4secs. Not, we suspect, that the careful seller has driven the car in that sort of fashion.
The hints in that direction lie in the car’s general condition and the very careful maintenance regime. The car has been returned to the supplying dealer each year, regardless of mileage, for all servicing and maintenance work. It is rare to find a Ferrari of this age with full main dealer maintenance.
The last service was in late July 2025. The rear shock absorbers and springs were replaced in August. This is a very well-sorted California in the right specification. Naturally the lengthy MOT has no advisories.
