The Appeal
It’s not immediately obvious why Land Rover didn’t offer its home market the Discovery 4 with the 5L AJV8 engine offered to other markets, because we think the combination of off-road capability and on-road go would have been a hit. But no matter, because this car has recently returned from Japan to show us what we’ve been missing.
The 5L AJV8 is the same one used in the Jaguar F-Type and is good for 375bhp. This blue over cream 7-seat example also carries a very high specification, including triple sunroof, high-end stereo and front and rear heated seats. It is in very good condition with few indications of its years.
Here is a chance to be the registered UK keeper of this well-kept SUV sleeper.
The vendor says:
“The Disco 4 needs no introduction - we love it and we know enthusiasts do too. But a Discovery 4 with Jaguar Land Rover’s 5L AJV8, the one from the F-Type? That may need a little introduction. Land Rover never officially sold the 375bhp AJ113-powered Discovery in the UK, but Japanese buyers were fortunate enough to have that choice.”
