The Appeal

Land Rover’s LR4 fourth generation Discovery is well-regarded, but for enthusiasts it’s the post 2014 models that are the ones to buy. This was when the economical yet powerful 3L SCV6 supercharged engine replaced the thirsty 5L V8 and the tough CommandShift 8spd gearbox arrived.

These are all good reasons to consider this very smart red metallic SCV6 HSE. But it has an extra trump card that sets it apart from regular LR4s. The vendor tells us that this 2014 example was registered from new by the Diwan of the Royal Court, Oman. It remained there until 2025 when the vendor acquired it. He tells us that during its time there, it was maintained properly and always dry-stored in an indoor, climate-controlled environment when not in use.

That likely explains the impressive condition in the photos. Despite the passage of 12 years, this low mileage LR4 HSE is extremely well kept. The beige leather seven seat interior, with its array of wood veneers, factory navigation, memory seats and twin sunroofs, looks barely used.

Since acquisition, the cooling system has been upgraded and two minor items remain outstanding: an occasional tailgate latch issue and a small washer fluid reservoir leak, both of which the vendor intends to resolve prior to sale. The vendor has deliberately refrained from re-registering the car in another country so that the buyer has full scope to relocate it as they wish.

With its royal provenance and reported condition, this LR4 represents a distinctive proposition.

All maintenance and servicing were carried out directly by the government; however, due to security protocols, no detailed service records were released. The vehicle was acquired on 11/12/2025 through the official government auction platform (www.mazad.om). The vehicle details and proof of ownership remain available and verifiable on the platform. Following purchase, the cooling system was proactively upgraded. Due to the known fragility of the original plastic lines, all coolant pipes were upgraded to durable metal ones, along with the replacement of the radiator, water pump, and thermostat. The engine belt (accessory drive belt) was also replaced. “The vehicle has always been kept in indoor, climate-controlled storage and remains in pristine, original factory condition with zero paintwork or accident history. There are no scratches, chips, or paint fading anywhere on the body. The undercarriage is in exceptional condition, completely free of rust or any structural damage. Detailed photos of the entire underbody are available. Overall, the exterior and chassis are in immaculate condition.

“The interior is in excellent overall condition, with all leather upholstery and seats meticulously preserved. All buttons, switches, and interior controls are fully functional with no fading or wear on the labels. The only minor cosmetic defect is a small area of crinkled leather (approx. 5 to 7 cm) on the passenger door trim near the handle, likely caused by past sun exposure or air freshener residue. Apart from this minor detail, the cabin is in superb shape.

“Mechanically, the vehicle is in excellent condition. It starts effortlessly, delivers a smooth driving experience, and the air suspension system functions flawlessly. As mentioned, since this vehicle was previously owned by the government and the Sultan's Palace, historical service records are unavailable. However, since acquisition, the cooling system has been upgraded with metal pipes replacing the original plastic ones for enhanced reliability. Regarding minor current issues, the power tailgate has no electrical fault, but it occasionally fails to unlatch;I aim to resolve this before the sale. Additionally, the windshield washer fluid reservoir has a minor leak causing a low washer fluid warning light on the dash, which will also be fixed shortly. Otherwise, all features function properly: front and rear heating and cooling (HVAC) systems are fully operational, as is the onboard refrigerator. The original factory protective plastics are still on the floor mats, the second-row seats and fold-flat rear seats have barely been used, the sunroofs operate smoothly, and all other vehicle options are fully working.”
