The Appeal
The DAX Rush was well named. It took inspiration from the Lotus Seven, but this brutally quick two-seater was designed to be very much its own car, with a wider, more surefooted stance.
The vendor, a mechanical engineer, began building this car 12 years ago using a kit from DJ Sports Cars and a 1989 Sierra donor vehicle. It was road registered as a DAX with correct VIN in 2016 and he has continued to fettle and maintain it ever since. It has covered just 2,565 miles since completion.
It is no stretch to say that this is a superb example. It has featured at the National Kit Car Show and other events and we are told it is an award-winning car. Finished in black, which accents the chromework, with two-tone black and cream interior, it is very well specified too.
Beneath the lengthy bonnet is a 2.1L Ford Pinto engine and 5spd gearbox, both of which were fully rebuilt during the construction project. It features twin Weber 45s, a Ford steering column and lightened and balanced clutch flywheel.
Regularly serviced and maintained by the current keeper and with no MOT advisories since it was road registered, this is a hugely entertaining car in great condition. It comes to market with a large package of spares. The vendor is very reluctantly selling due to relocation to Australia.
The vendor says:
Being a slightly wider car than some, it handles corners really well. Very responsive on handling. 5 5-speed gearbox means you can cruise comfortably. Sounds great when revving the engine, great to have the wind through your hair! It's exciting to drive quick on excelleration - PUTS A SMILE ON YOUR FACE!”
