The Appeal
It’s badged as an Alfa Romeo, but the brilliant Giulia Quadrifoglio can lay fair claim to essentially being a four-door Ferrari saloon. Initiated by Sergio Marchionne as a ‘halo’ car to rejuvenate the fabled Milanese concern, it was developed as a ‘skunkworks’ project headed by Philippe Krief, Ferrari’s chief engineer, and Gianluca Pavetti, the firm’s powertrain guru. At its heart lies a 2.9L 505bhp twin turbo V6 derived from Maranello’s F154 engine.
That blue-chip provenance, plus the car’s sheer capability, explain why any Quadrifoglio is desirable. But this 2017 car takes things a step further. It is one of the exceptionally rare 6spd manual gearbox cars that were only available to buyers in mainland Europe. Alfa has suggested that fewer than 1% of the 15,000 Quadrifoglio buyers made this choice. Today, for that reason, and for the engagement it provides, it is very sought after.
Finished in popular Rosso Competizione Tricoat with a black leather and Alcantara interior, this 2017 car was originally first registered in Italy before moving to Solvenia in 2018. The vendor acquired it in 2024 and tells us that he is the car’s third keeper. He informs us that the car is in very good condition, having been garage-kept throughout its life, driven only occasionally, and never subjected to winter roads or track use. It retains its original paintwork aside from the roof, which was professionally repainted in November 2024 to address minor lacquer damage. Further cosmetic care followed in December 2024 with a full polish, ceramic coating, and paint protection film applied to the bonnet, front roof edge, and headlights.
Mechanically, the car benefits from significant renewal: the clutch, differential, and gearbox were all replaced under warranty at the official Alfa Romeo workshop in Ljubljana in 2019. More recently, the engine belt was replaced and a fresh set of Bridgestone Potenza tyres fitted in April 2026. As this well kept Rosso Competizione car proves, Alfa’s Centro Stile Giulia is one of the prettiest and most characterful saloons of recent years. Certain colours suit it and this car’s evocative Alfa colour is definitely one of them. Neat detailing like the factory ‘Cloverleaf’ alloys add to the appeal. We’re told that aside from the professionally repainted roof, the paintwork is original. It presents well, as do the alloys which show only light kerbing and feature newly fitted Bridgestone tyres.
Inside the cabin is factory standard in black leather and Alcantara with red stitching, Despite the passage of nine years the low mileage means that there is little wear or signs of use.

It may have been built to take on BMW’s M3 but there is something altogether more rarified about the Quadrifoglio. That’s down to the Ferrari engineering and technology, notably that incredible 2.9L twin turbo V6. With its engine and drivetrain honed by Ferrari, no wonder Jeremy Clarkson hailed it as a ‘masterpiece.’ Our own Chris Harris was similarly effusive.
Most buyers opted for the trick 8spd auto box, but the first keeper of this car was one of a handful who wanted something more analogue and engaging. So it is equipped with the slick 6spd manual box, an exceptionally rare but highly sought-after feature for enthusiasts.
