The Appeal
The bespoke Brabus tuning house exists to serve Mercedes-Benz customers who enjoy the comfort of knowing they own the fastest, most capable and certainly the rarest of Mercedes-based models. Just a handful of factory-fettled Brabus models leave the firm each year and they are all equipped with colossal performance.
This 2021 650 B40S Coupe is believed one of one in the world, its bright red air filter boxes attesting to its having been breathed on by the factory at Bottrop, rather than by a Brabus dealer. It is a very low mileage car, we are told just 3,000 miles, and has had one private owner and is one of the last V8-powered C63-based Mercedes built. Now back with the supplying Brabus dealership it looks showroom-fresh and ready to unleash its 650bhp for a new buyer.
The C class Coupé is discontinued by Mercedes-Benz and this vehicle is the last RWD V8, 2dr C coupe we will see from Mercedes-Benz and this vehicle is essentially the Black Series we never got in the W205 shape.

Every 650 begins life as a C63 AMG Mercedes, which means the starting point for specification and driver-focussed entertainment is already very high. Brabus then adds its own twist on things, offering customers the opportunity to bespoke their cars from its vast range of options.
This car was commissioned by the Brabus specialist that is now selling it again, so it has the advantage of being specified by people who have perused the Bottrop firm’s options list many times. Mercedes supplied it in Premium Plus specification, which includes lots of technology like blind spot alert, radar cruise, lane control and a heads up display as well as comfort features like those lovely AMG sports seats and a big panoramic roof. There is also an attractive carbon fibre package trimming the doors, dashboard and centre console.
The Brabus features include branded carpets, door sills and foot pedals.
It is a beautiful and very high quality place to be and one that looks factory-sharp. This car has covered very few miles and there is barely a hint of use, even the wheel and driver’s seat look like they have just arrived in the showroom.
The Exterior
- Brabus carbon aero package including front and rear diffusers, lift spoiler and carbon fibre mirrors
- 20inc Monoblock Brabus black alloy wheels with custom red pinstripe in excellent condition
- Factory supplied Michelin Sport Conti tyres with just 3,000 miles of wear
- The discontinued Magno Selenite Grey anodised paint finish is unmarked and showroom perfect
- Brabus illuminated grille badge
The distinctive C-Class coupe profile provides an excellent starting point for ‘Brabus-ing’ a car, its handsome lines lending themselves to neat detail enhancements like the black trim and carbon features of this Magno Selenite Grey 650. That paint finish was discontinued soon after this car was built, making it one of the last to sport this desirable finish.
This car has the Brabus Carbon Aero package which provides front and rear carbon-trimmed diffusers, a lift spoiler in carbon too and carbon wing mirrors. Elsewhere the badging and trim features are black to complement the package. Despite there being many potentially vulnerable areas on the car it is all in showroom-fresh condition, a good indicator of the care applied by the single private owner and of course the low miles.
The distinctive Mono Block Brabus alloy wheels are tastefully enhanced with a red pinstripe that neatly breaks up the monotone exterior. The wheels are in very good condition and shod with Brabus factory-supplied Sport Conti 20inch rims.
The Mechanics
- 3,942cc V8-engined twin-turbo M177 Mercedes engine running larger Brabus turbos with modified cores and reinforced axial bearings
- 9spd AMG MCT gearbox with semi-automatic shift and aluminium steering wheel paddles
- Serviced in March 2022 and will be serviced before handover if reaches reserve
- Power increased from 510bhp of standard C63 to 650bhp and 700Nm torque delivering 60mph in 3.6secs
- Distinctive red air filter boxes indicate that this car was converted by the Brabus factory rather than a dealer
- Brabus four-branch exhaust that is louder than a C63 and vendor confirms is UK legal
Distinctive as the Brabus styling accoutrements are, it is under the bonnet where these very rare cars demonstrate their difference. Under the bonnet of this car is a pair of bright red air filter boxes, proof that this car was breathed upon by the factory at Bottrop, rather than by a dealer.
This 2021 W205 fourth generation C-Class is one of the last to feature Mercedes superb M177 twin-turbo 4litre V8. Later cars have 2litre engines. The Brabus 650 B40S enhancements hike power from the not insignificant 510bhp of the standard C63 to a remarkable 650bhp. This is achieved by fitting larger turbos and altering their geometry. The result is the sort of acceleration that comes with a doctor’s warning: 60 arrives in a shade over 3.5secs.
This very low mileage 650 has a digital service record and was last serviced in March 2022. The vendor states that the car will be serviced again prior to handover if it hits its reserve.
Summary
For those in pursuit of supercar performance but with the practicality of a four-seat coupe and the reassurance of Mercedes engineering, there is the Brabus 650. Blisteringly quick, it is unlikely anyone will have time to register what it is whilst owners will probably never see another one.
This 2021 650 coupe is believed ‘one of one’, a late model V8-engined car that is as good as factory-fresh. It is nicely specified and supplied by a Brabus dealer. If you’re looking for ultimate coupe performance undercut by genuine rarity, surely nothing else touches this svelte machine.
It is an opportunity to purchase this car as Brabus would not allow for a 205 C63 coupe to be converted ever again. Not to mention, a V8 C class is something we will never get again, making it probably one of the rarest collectible vehicles on the planet.
