The Appeal

In 1966, Jensen Motors introduced their take on the ever-developing trend of distinctly muscle-themed grand tourers. Picture the scene of Camaros, Mustangs and more and it had to be said that many British cars were beginning to look…stuffy. Their response was the new Interceptor. Besides having a distinctly cool name, it was a square-jawed, smooth-backed beauty that seemed to smash together the distinct car cultures of the USA, Italy and the UK.
This example of the 1969 MkII comes to us in fine fettle, having been restored to its original factory colour scheme of silver-grey, given an excellent range of mechanical work and subtly upgraded. The result is that this stunning example is bound to impress any enthusiast.

The Interior

The sporty interior of the Jensen Interceptor follows the theme of the car’s exceptional muscle-car persona. Jet-black with lashings of chrome set the order of the day, with everything in fine order. We can spot the odd lashing of patina to the metalwork - but it only adds to the car’s distinct character.
The tidily arranged dashboard features all of its original Jaeger dials, each one proving clear and easy to read. A period stereo sits comfortably in the centre console, and the Jensen plates and identification cards are stowed inside the central compartment. These features are finalised by an attractive Moto-Lita steering wheel, complete with Jensen branding.
The front seats, which appear to be retrimmed in black vinyl, are in exceptional condition with no rips or scuffs, while the rear leather bucket seats carry a gentle age-commensurate patina. The door cards are in a similar condition with no clear faults. Underneath and above, the carpets and headlining are both in good order.




The Exterior

Impeccably presented, this Jensen has been returned to its original grey paint scheme after a few repaints over the years. The result is superb - the car’s imposing profile and stylish square-jawed look makes a wonderful matchup with the distinctive aggressive colour scheme.
The bodywork is all tightly knitted and well-presented, with the paintwork in superb order. The chromework appears to carry a gentle patina, commensurate with the car’s age, but still appears bright and clean, with no peel.
The Interceptor II branding is beautifully presented across the board with no faults we can highlight, while the headlight lenses and windows are all clean and fracture free. The car is sitting on a set of reconditioned Jensen wheels, and shod in a set of Vredestein tyres that have done less than 400 miles since installation. 
Underneath, the car shows some light spots of wear and corrosion, though it’s strictly surface level, and the chassis was freshly undersealed in 2018 and looks to be sound. The stainless steel exhaust, installed in 2018, is in excellent order. 




The Mechanics

  • Engine bay in good condition with no major faults we can highlight
  • Extensive mechanical work in 2018, including:
    • Installation of a new aluminium radiator with relevant bonnet adjustments
    • Reconditioned brake callipers with new pads
    • Rebuilt transmission with new sump and filters
    • New stainless steel exhaust
    • New spark plugs, pumps and filters across the board
    • Installation of Polyurethane rear suspension and bushes
    • Invoices for all of the above and plenty more included in paperwork
    • All with only 342 recorded miles since
A peek under the bonnet of this MK2 is a real treat. The engine is clean, well-presented and subtly modified.
Treated to a range of practical upgrades, this Interceptor is performing beautifully without losing its essential character. Following an exceptional programme of restoration and repair during 2018, the muscle-car persona of the Interceptor is ready and raring to go for its next owner, with the vendor reporting no faults with this highly impressive car - this is of no surprise, considering less than 400 miles have been clocked since the work was undertaken.
