Made famous by its appearance in the film The Graduate starring Dustin Hoffman the Spider was a success for Alfa Romeo with production spanning almost 30 years. With distinctive Italian good looks and a four cylinder Alfa engine everybody loves, it's easy to see why the Spider has become such a desirable classic.
This Spider is a true barn find having last been on the road in 1987. It’s a full restoration project worthy of any true Alfisti. It appears to be an almost entirely original and unrestored example that has had little work done to it in the past, making it an excellent candidate for a sympathetic restoration. The factory weld lines on the sills are still visible, indicating a lack of previous welding and the small section of bodywork at the back of the hood appears sound which we are told is an indication of a car that has been stored indoors.

The interior of the third generation Spider built on the fantastic Italian styling of its predecessors and added extra comfort and utility. The driving position is much improved and has the added benefit of being a two plus two (as long as you have short passengers!).
The dashboard and dials appear to be in fair condition and as can be seen in the images its a very original interior even including the original Alfa branded floor mats. The vinyl seats all need retrimming and the hood/headlining is in poor condition, however the rear window remains flexible.
There’s no denying that Alfa Romeo have made some very good looking cars, even in a sorry state this Spider still cuts a fine shape and will make for a fantastic looking car once restored. All of the light lenses, badges and trim are present and the exterior is entirely standard and unmodified.
The spider 2000 features the 1962cc Alfa Romeo engine that gave a welcome performance boost over the previous generation. It appears to be complete and looks like it hasn’t been touched since the car was last on the road. There are no keys or battery and as with the rest of the car the mechanics are in need of full restoration.
This Spider 2000 is a perfect opportunity for anyone looking for their next restoration project. A true barn find that hasn’t been on the road since the 80’s it’s highly original and will make for a fantastic classic Alfa experience once restored.
