Highlights
• Low mileage of just 37,347 kms
• Matching numbers car
• Recent, full respray in original colour
• Removable hard top
The Background
The TS is the convertible version of the 348 TB, or Berlinetta but the removable hard top is about where the differences end, however, as the car shares the same engine and drivetrain as its sister car.
Boasting 300bhp from its naturally aspirated V8 it's no slouch and with design characteristics borrowed from the Testarossa it looks good too.
The History
A three-owner, matching numbers car this lovely 348 was initially sold in Belgium to LM Classic Cars in Gent, then to a gentleman in Holland.
The original owner proceeded to buy it back after realising how much he missed it and it was finally acquired by the current keeper in 2016. The car has been cherished and driven over the last three years and benefits from a recent full body respray in its original black paint.
The Paperwork
The car comes with various official documents including Belgian registration papers, most recent bill of sale and various receipts for works carried out.
The Interior
The completely black interior is beautiful and really gives this car a somewhat “murdered out” aesthetic, which looks great. The seats have been re-trimmed in brand new leather and they are in fantastic condition.
The rest of the matching interior is incredibly clean and tidy and we could find no evidence of any damage or excessive wear. In fact, the entire cockpit appears to be apparently unworn. The car comes with its original tool box.
The Exterior
Thanks to its recent respray this 348 TS looks stunning in original black, both with and without the removable hard top and as you would expect there is not a spot of corrosion to be found anywhere on the car.
There are a few small blemishes here and there but nothing that detracts from the alluring black on black look of this 348, which we simply love. The original factory alloy wheels present well overall and come clad in a mixture of Bridgestone Potenza and Bridgstone Expedia tyres.
The Mechanics
The car is in excellent mechanical condition and with the drive belts having been replaced in 2016 with few miles covered since, it should be good for a while yet.
The car also received an oil service in 2019. The engine bay looks clean and tidy and from the photos we can see no signs of leakage. There are clear images of the underside of the car too and everything visible appears to be in good order.
The Appeal
The fact that the 348 spawned a race series speaks volumes and these road-going versions could see 60mph from a standstill in 5.5 seconds and on to a top speed of over 170mph. Unfairly overlooked in favour of some of the more esteemed cars from the Italian giant the 348 remains a beautiful and powerful sports car.
The flip side of that coin is the potential for a performance bargain so chuck in a bid for the chance to add this classic convertible to your collection and watch prices steadily rise in the future. Red Ferraris with cream interiors are ten a penny so dare to be different with this beguiling black on black beauty.
