THE APPEAL
Values of Range Rover Classics have shot up in recent years, with the best examples commanding substantial five-figure sums.
The model is one of the UK’s most up-and-coming classics, and here’s one that’s a really tidy example offered for sale without reserve, which will make it hugely appealing to someone who may want to get behind the wheel of one before they go for silly money. It’s a good one, too – solid and smartly presented with lots of prior history.DSC_0447.jpg5.69 MB

THE EXTERIOR
Unusual Cassis Red
Very presentable
Some minor marks
Refurbished alloy wheels and new tyres
Very good arches and bulkhead
Finished in the rare colour of Cassis Red, the Range Rover is very presentable and free of any major issues, though there are a few areas where there are small marks, deterioration or lacquer peel. The vendor has just had the bonnet repainted to alleviate the worst of this and the Range Rover looks great in general, but the vendor is keen to make the new owner aware that there will be a few small areas of cosmetic attention needed in future.
The chassis is said to be excellent and there’s no rust to be seen in the sills, bulkhead or door shut areas, where Range Rovers commonly have issues.
It also has refurbished alloy wheels and new tyres all-round.
Equipped with the 3.9-litre version of the venerable Rover V8, the Range Rover runs beautifully and engages both high and low range gears as it should, via a three-speed automatic transmission.
It has been well-maintained by its previous owners, as evidenced by a comprehensive history file, and it drives really well.
SUMMARY
Taken as a part-exchange by the vendor, who specialises in V8 Range Rovers, the Classic isn’t up to his usual standards of absolutely perfect examples – but it won’t take a huge amount to take it to the next level as it’s a really sound and solid truck, with good history and evidence of being well-maintained in the past. It’s a great way into Range Rover Classic ownership without having to pay top dollar, and it won’t take a lot to make it very special indeed.
