Believe it or not, what you’re looking at here is the world’s best-selling vehicle. 

Over 10 million examples of the Honda Cub in its C70 and C90 guises have been sold since 1967, and while production for Europe ceased almost 20 years ago, it remains on sale in India, China, South America and several Asian markets, offering inexpensive transport for the masses. 

In the UK, it’s a bit of an icon. Uniquely styled and pretty much unchanged through its production run, the instantly recognisable Cub was many people’s first taste of independence. 

Throw in Honda reliability and 100 mpg fuel economy and you have the perfect iconic runabout for today’s times. 

This one is incredible.

It’s essentially a new bike, pretty much, having covered just 570 miles since it was registered in 1998.

There are two previous registered keepers for the C90 – the first owner and then a second one who acquired the bike when he died. 

There’s a reason behind its incredible low mileage. The first owner was made redundant in 1998 when the bike was new, and he decided to do ‘The Knowledge’ – the test of London’s road routes taken by all of the capital’s cabbies. 

Most drivers learn on a moped, and he was no exception – other than that he decided not to continue and pursue a different career instead. The Honda was put into a storage container and there it stayed until his passing. 

It was then passed on via probate to its second owner, who MOT’d it twice but never used it, before it went into storage again.

As a result, here it is – spotless and pretty much as good as new.

Given the fact it has covered less than 600 miles, it’s no surprise to find that the C90 is in pretty much unmarked condition with no faults to note.

The frame is perfect, the metallic red paintwork is in great condition, the seat is as-new and the wheels, grips, handlebars and stand are in immaculate order.

It’s a remarkable thing.

The Cub features an air-cooled 85cc single-cylinder engine, as used in Honda agricultural machinery and go-karts, among other things.

It starts and runs well having covered such a tiny mileage. The vendor is selling it with no known faults.

You can’t buy a new Honda Cub in the UK any more, but you can buy this one and it’s as close to that as you’re ever likely to get.

A genuine, preserved and unrestored bike, it’s a real timewarp and would make a brilliant addition to any collection of iconic motorcycles – or failing that, you can jump on and ride it as if it were brand new.
