The Appeal

If there is any car that can genuinely be said to be in a class of its own, it is the Range Rover with its combination of on- and off-road ability and high-end luxury.
The many remaining P38A Range Rover examples appear to be almost exclusively lovingly cared-for and there is a wealth of information and technical support available at the UK Range Rover Owners Club website, the members of which are as knowledgeable and enthusiastic as they come.
There is little doubt that V595 EGF will be a worthy and enduring addition to any new home willing to keep it in the manner to which it has evidently become accustomed over the past twenty-three years.

History and Paperwork

  • Presents in very good condition throughout
  • Just five former keepers since new
  • V5 certificate in current keeper’s name
The data plate reveals that this P38 survivor came off the Solihull lines during the second week of October, 1999. Having made its way to Land Rover Park Lane in London, it received its first UK registration on Tuesday, 26th October, 1999.
During the intervening twenty-three years, the car has been enjoyed by just six keepers, the current of which acquired the car in late December, 2019.
The car comes with the original Land Rover Holdall containing the Owner’s Manual, the entertainment unit manual and the all-important Service and Maintenance Record, which contains a full history of service stamps, the last of which occurred as recently as May 2022, with the mileage recorded at 135,439.
Additional paperwork includes the V5 certificate in the current keeper’s name, an MoT to May, 2023 and a raft of invoices – including a few of high value – for service and maintenance work undertaken, most of which under the instruction of the current keeper. Please note that the  99 model year Vogue SEs appeared as a standard 'HSE' on the V5, it wasn't until later that Land Rover registered them as such.

The Interior

  • Interior exhibits little evidence of its 137k miles
  • Smart ‘Lightstone’ dual-tone leather upholstery
  • Spare set of RR carpets and new cockpit rubber mats
The interior of this Range Rover P38 presents in extraordinary good condition throughout.
The front and rear furniture are clad in dual-tone ‘Lightstone’ leather which show little signs of the car’s mileage or 23 years. The centre console, steering wheel, carpets, headliner and door cards are in exemplary condition. All the electrics – including the seats – are said to be in good working order, as are the instruments, dials and switchgear.
The carpeted rear luggage area is clean and tidy and houses the original ‘Mondial’ alloys spare wheel and the requisite set of tools under the floor cover
No noticeable blemishes to the interior were observed by our photographer.

The Exterior

  • Presented in its original ‘Rioja Red Metallic’
  • Paint and brightwork work in very good order
  • Handsome gunmetal grey ‘Hurricane’ alloys
The extraordinarily good condition of the exterior of this P38 mirrors that of its interior. The original paintwork of ‘Rioja Red Metallic’ (Code 601) exhibits very little of the car’s mileage or age and no noticeable blemishes were evidenced by our photographer.
The smart 18-inch gunmetal grey ‘Hurricane’ alloys are in excellent condition with no obvious signs of damage. They are shod with a healthy set of Goodyear Eagle F1’s all-round. Accompanying the sale of the car will be the set of its original ‘Mondial’ alloys which would benefit from refurbishment.
At the front, the headlight lenses are crystal clear and the plastic indicator/reflector lenses show no hint of UV-bleaching. The same may be said for the original rear light clusters. The brightwork around the car is in very good condition and a preliminary glance down each flank shows no evidence of collision damage.
All apertures open and close as well as the day they were fitted and all panels appear straight and true.

The Mechanics

  • Said to be in mechanically sound condition
  • Vendor has invested heavily in maintenance
  • Long MoT to May 2023 awaits the new keeper
At the photo location, the 4.6-litre V8 started first and every time and settled into a muted but sonorous burble. The automatic transmission connected smoothly and drive engaged with no drama, requiring just a light feathering of the revs to get underway.

However the vendor pointed out that one system on the car that is known to be inoperative is the cruise control, everything else is believed to be in working order.
There is a full service history recorded to May 2022, with the mileage registered at 135,439.
The engine compartment is clean and tidy and belies the car’s mileage and age. In addition, the vendor reports this P38 to be in healthy mechanical condition with steering, brakes, engine, drivetrain and running gear performing as well as their respective engineers intended.
Like the visible parts of this car, the underside and lower side sills present in very good order with little of the natural oxidation that may reasonably be expected on a car of this age and mileage.

Summary

The luxury Range Rover is a car that enjoys enduring appeal across all models. For those looking for something substantially well looked after, this particular Range Rover P38 presents an opportunity to acquire a finely-fettled Vogue SE edition.
Presenting in remarkable condition for its mileage and age with a full service history and plethora of other supporting service and maintenance paperwork, there can be little doubt that V592 EGF will be a welcome addition to any new home willing to keep it in the manner to which it has evidently become accustomed over the past two decades.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
