THE APPEAL

Introduced at the 2003 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, the BMW E63 6-Series was the third BMW to exhibit Chris Bangle’s controversial flame-sided styling language.

With slab sides and a high boot line, the 6-Series was offered as both a Coupé and a Convertible. It was developed off the platform of the E60 5-Series, but with a shorter chassis and wheelbase.

It may have been controversial at first, but the styling of the big BMW has aged exceptionally well. And today, it has the look of a car that still looks contemporary despite being almost two decades old.

It's a great car to drive, too. With very similar handling to the fantastic 5-Series and a range of high-performance engines, there was never a dull E63 to drive.

This one is the baby of the range – the 630Ci – but with 264bhp it’s hardly a slough.0-60mph takes just six seconds, with the top speed limited to 155mph. Plus, this is the most desirable cabriolet model.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

  • Original service book stamped to 58k
  • Book pack and manuals
  • Genuine low mileage
  • MOT until January 2023

With just 63,000 miles on the clock and two previous owners, this 630Ci has all the hallmarks of a well-cared-for car.

It was supplied new by Bennetts BMW of Chelmsford, which maintained it until 2014. From 2015 onward, maintenance passed on to Hexagon BMW in London, under the care of its second owner. The service book is stamped up to 58,100 miles, just over 5,000 miles ago.

It comes with all its original owners’ handbooks and an MOT valid until January 2023.

THE INTERIOR

  • Spotless cream leather
  • BMW i-Drive and infotainment system
  • Walnut-effect veneers
  • M-Sport steering wheel
  • Original first aid kit and warning triangle

Inside, the 630Ci is a very pleasant place to be, with heated cream leather seats and smart walnut-style veneers. The centrepiece of the dash is BMW’s i-Drive controlled infotainment system, which is operated via a central controller.

There’s also an optional extra M-Sport steering wheel with paddle controls for the gearbox. It’s all in exceptional order and all of the controls work as they should.

Open air motoring comes at the push of a button, the rear screen staying in place to operate as a wind deflector. It takes just 30 seconds to become a full convertible.

THE EXTERIOR

  • Mystic Blue Mica
  • No dents or damage
  • Factory upgraded M6 Alloys wheels
Finished in Mystic Blue Mica, the 630Ci looks almost black in certain lights and is a smart and stealthy looking car, especially sitting upon its five-spoke factory option alloys. The wheels themselves have some slight tarnishing in places but are good overall, while the body is generally in very good order with no notable damage or dents.

THE MECHANICS

  • 3.0-litre straight six
  • six-speed automatic transmission
  • 264bhp
  • Well-maintained
  • Brake fluid change which is not due until February 2024.
  • Front brake pads not due for another 12,000 miles.
  • Engine oil not requiring a change for another 18,000 miles.
  • Rear brake pads not needing any attention for another 26,000 miles.
  • Vehicle check not needed for another 37,000.
The 630Ci’s straight six is one of BMW’s most versatile engines, having appeared in all models from the 3-Series upwards. It’s a punchy powerplant with an impressive 264bhp, and offers impressive performance that makes the V8-powered models seem almost superfluous.

This one has been impeccably maintained always by BMW main dealers. According to the vendor it’s an absolute joy to drive with no issues whatsoever.

The machine benefits with having a iDrive System that can tell the owner a vast array of items on the Vehicle Service Menu. The images show that the car does not have any existing faults, then goes onto presenting a detailed list of consumables that are in need or in this case NOT in need of attention for the foreseeable future. This menu starts with scanning the car an telling the driver if there are any current existing faults. As can be seen in the pictures the computer states their are no current faults. This then goes into giving details about the Periodic Inspection not due until January 2024.
This machine is one that has been pampered and looked after only at BMW Dealerships and BMW specialists as pictured in the Service Book. This is not a six series that has been used and abused like many on the market that haven been used to enjoy the sunshine and disregarded. This is one that has been used as an additional car and looking at the mileage only used sparingly or tucked away and bought to light when the sun comes out in the summer months.

This machine is a true credit to the last owner who has molly cuddled and maintained the car to a very high standard. This has been both cosmetically as well as mechanically. This car is packed with a huge range of extras. This is not even mentioning the array of extra’s that are photographed and that the Sport model has as upgrades as factory standard.

SUMMARY

As classy and elegant grand tourers go, the BMW 6-Series represents astonishing value right now and with such a low mileage and a main dealer history this one must be up there with the best available on the market. A really smart and well looked-after car that promises to be an absolute joy to drive.

About Max Bids

The max bid process allows you to bid without any hassle.

Enter your maximum bid and we will then bid on your behalf to ensure you're the highest bidder - just enough to keep you in the lead and only up until your maximum.

Anti-sniping

Car & Classic prevent auction snipers from bidding in the last seconds to win an auction.

Auctions are extended by 3 minutes if anyone bids within the last 2 minutes to allow other bidders to react and counter-bid.

Auto-bidding increments

  • If your maximum bid is equal to or below the reserve price, your maximum bid will be applied in full if you are the highest bidder.
  • If you are the highest bidder and place a maximum bid above the reserve, we will automatically put in the reserve as your first bid.
    • Once the reserve has been met, Car & Classic will make sure you are the highest bidder using only the bidding increments stated below.
    • We will keep you in the lead up until your maximum bid OR the increment closest to your maximum bid, providing your maximum bid is enough to cover the increment value.

Bid Amount Increment
£0 to £9,999 £100.00
£10,000 to £49,999 £250.00
£50,000 to £99,999 £500.00
£100,000 + £1,000.00

Automatically outbid immediately

When you place a max bid and are outbid immediately that means that another bidder has placed a max bid limit which is higher than yours.

You can bid again and we will use our automatic bid system to try and get you as the highest bidder.

Matching max bids

When there are two max bids of the same value, the one placed first remains the lead bidder.

Pre-authorisation

We may hold a pre-authorisation charge on your card until the end of the auction when the hold will be cancelled. If you win, we'll take a security deposit which counts towards the payment for the vehicle and isn't any extra cost to you.

What are pre-bids?

A pre-bid means you're able to place a bid before the official start of the auction.
You will be notified whether or not you are the highest bidder when the auction starts.

Problem with your bid

Bids are contractually binding. To help protect you, we have some rules in place if we think it's been mistyped. Please check and amend what you have entered.
