The Jeep Cherokee or Cherokee XJ is a popular now retro classic 4X4. One of the first 4X4 to be made in a Unibody (outside of military vehicles) it was a real hit and enjoyed a lot of success. 

It was in production between 1983 and 2001 and had a number of facelift and optional improvements in that time but what remained constant is it’s popularity. Brutish good looks, more than ample interior space, simple mechanics and decent off road capabilities made it a hit and it stands with some of the best in the 4X4 game as a more than capable machine.

Given its off road prowess, they are no stranger to a bit of mud and the odd bush or two so clean examples are becoming hard to come by.

The current owners like this vehicle so much they have actually owned it twice. The latest stint being for the last year and half.  

The car has been looked after and serviced/maintained regularly though it is not being used enough and so the owners have decided to part with it.

 

Present is the log book,  brand new MOT which is valid until June 2022 , service book and relevant bills , VOSA mileage history , owners hand books and HPI report.

There are a mixture of service stamps and invoices included, also old mots.

Oil pinion replaced, serviced in 2015 @ 87000 miles. £681.05p. re-gas air-conditioning  in 2016. New rear tyres 2016. It had a new n/s/f brake calipers and brake hose in 2016 at 88000 miles. New rear shock absorbers in 2017. 

 

Full soft grey leather interior with electric front seats. The carpets are in nice condition, the dash board is nice and unusually for a vehicle of this type the rear loading area is very clean.

Everything works and it’s a nice place to be.

 

The colour is grey/blue metallic and this is known as the facelift model, the extra body accents have all been colour coded from the factory.

The outside is clean, again for a vehicle of this type which tend to have seen a lot of off road action. The paint has nice shine to it and there are no serious marks or dents. Unfortunately there is a mark left by bird waste on the bonnet and the odd touch up/stonechip which is to be expected on a vehicle of this age. 

The alloys are in good condition and are fitted with good tyres, it is also fitted with roof rails and a tow bar with working electrics. The underside of the vehicle is very tidy and the cast steel items have recently received rust protection. The floor pans and chassis rails are also in good condition.

The car runs drives and stops as expected and is plenty powerful enough. The car has received regular service as is proven by the history and the mileage is backed up by the paperwork.

This model of Jeep Cherokee is now hitting firm cult status. Being 20+ years old in some peoples eyes its seen as retro and certainly the boxy look is seen an the “In thing”.

Often people lift them higher throw even bigger wheels and tyres on and change the stance to be even meaner than it already is so it’s becoming rare to see a clean, relatively low mileage , largely original example in good condition that hasn’t had a hard life.

Parts are still fairly accessible so its right in that sweet spot for owning a retro cool 4X4, get them while they are hot, clean XJ's like this won’t be around for long.
