Recommissioned by Saab specialist and ready to go for summer
The Appeal
Superb engineering and excellent build quality, the 900 turbo was built to survive Scandinavian winters whilst Saab’s engineers were hugely successful drawing power out of its turbo engines without affecting fuel consumption too badly. They’re a highly popular and sought after classic.
This Saab was purchased new in 1989 and kept until 1991 where it was with the same owner until recently where the current owner took it on as a winter project after it had been dry stored for 15 years
The current owner commissioned the help of Saab specialists Aeromotive Sports & Performance LTD to get the Saab back fighting fit. All parts that needed replacing have been, including radiator, thermostat, belts, coolant etc whilst the current owner has tried to keep as much originality as possible. As a result, the original turbo has been kept as it was reported to be in good working order and the owner also reports the mileage appears correct given the time-warp condition of the car itself, plus old MOTs, service details etc.
The current owner has used the car sparingly over the past year to iron out any niggles that may have appeared after the car has sat for a while. Now the recommission project is complete; the owner is looking to sell to move onto the next one. cm9ezFxsHHeUVN2Tar9Kea4pEk2nygaoQwBxQgHe.jpg444.29 KB

Saab specialist Aeromotive Sports & Performance LTD completed the recommission on the 900 Turbo and all the invoices are present for all the parts replaced, we’d recommend taking an in depth look through the gallery
Interior in remarkably good condition, dash and door cards look to be in great condition, the car has its original mats and has had new door seals both passenger and driver’s side.
The upholstery on the front and rear seats is in great condition, some creasing to the leather but at a wear and tear level far lower than expected for a 33-year-old car. There is a small section of wear on the top of the passenger head rest and the odd minor section of discolouration here and there
Major touch points in the car have fared very well for the car’s age
The Saab has had a new hood and frame as the old one was not working properly and was looking a bit tired
All main instrument gauges are working - speedo, rev counter, turbo gauge, temperature - with exception of the fuel gauge, which does have reserve light functioning
The boot area is in fantastic condition with no obvious staining or damage and the spare wheel also looks to be in good nick too
Metalwork underneath the boot compartment has fared well over the years and houses original jack and tools/pouch
Mesh wheels are in good condition with only minor cosmetic curbing, Goodyear tyres look to have plenty of tread left
Aeromotive work also included some minor front bumper and spoiler repair/refresh
Body panels are all straight and panel gaps are tight and uniform, there is the odd minor mark here and there but nothing significant from our initial visual inspection, some of the arches have the smallest signs of corrosion coming through but far less than you would expect
Hood is relatively new so presents in good condition with a deep lustre and free from rips and tears with a tight fit
Glass and light lenses around the car are in good condition too with no obvious cracks, chips or hazing
Black plastic body panels look to be free from any serious dents or cracks and the front chrome grille has survived well for the car’s 33 years
As mentioned, the car has its original engine and turbo which is in sound condition but has had the cooling system overhauled with the radiator replaced and new belts fitted
A comprehensive check over and recommissioning - including fitting of .new alloy radiator/thermostat, new belts, replacement brake servo, exhaust back box , suspension bushes, full plugs , filters and oil service and fresh , advisory free MOT @ 53,656 mls Additionally new driver and passenger door seals ; replacement original Saab frame ( roof now fully functioning) - in all almost £4,000 spent .
The owner has driven the Saab sparingly for the past year and reports the car to drive nicely and start up reliably
Initial visual inspection of the engine bay shows no split wires, cracked hard pipes or split hoses, there is some, what appears to be superficial surface corrosion but overall the engine and the bay looks to be in good condition, please do take a look through the photo gallery to decide for yourself
The underside and all components visible from underneath the car look to be in equally as good a condition as the engine and bay, the sealant has clearly done a good job of keeping the car protected and the 15 years in storage would have halted any damage done to the metalwork from our salted roads
A fighter jet for the road, the Saab 900 has had a dedicated cult following since its conception and that is just as true nowadays even with Saab’s untimely passing. This car has a lot going for it with low owners and low miles and a full recommission putting it back in action. We’re sure this car will provide many a fighter jet thrill to its next owner.
