Description
The Rover 2000, or P6 was launched in 1963 and promptly won car of the year as well as many awards for safety and design, thanks to innovative features such as all-round disc brakes and body panels which bolted to a frame like the Citroen DS.
This car is a 1973 Rover 2000SC automatic in Corsica Blue with Sandalwood leather trim. This is the second time that we have owned this excellent P6. It was in the hands of its first owner from new until 2011 and has had just three owners since. The mileage is correct at just 58, 000 miles. It is in excellent condition - the upper body is rust free with a good paint finish, the underside is in excellent original order and as far as we can see it has never been welded.
The under-bonnet is outstanding with plenty of new parts on display including radiator, hoses, alternator, brake pipes and rebuilt carburettor. The interior trim is in good but original order with minor flaws and everything works. It also runs and drives beautifully and the automatic gearbox, which was overhauled less than 2000 miles ago at a cost of £1500, works perfectly.
This P6 comes with an interesting history file containing various bills going back to the 80’s original handbooks, new and old V5’s, various old MOT’s and the original “Passport to Service”.
These cars have been under-valued for years and it is surprising that you can buy a good one for less than the price of a Morris Minor in comparable condition but gradually, prices are rising. This one offers excellent value.
