The Triumph 2000 was designed by the Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti and introduced at the 1963 London Motor Show. The Triumph defined a new sector of the market – a sports saloon for the aspiring family man in an affordable and modern package
In 1970 the Triumph was on display in the showroom of Julians (Reading) when John Cooper, a RAF pilot on leave, spotted the showroom display car, loved the colour combination and bought her on the spot for the princely sum of £1, 526. John kept the car for the next 48 years doing most of the servicing himself and covering just 63, 000 miles.
Today she is one of the most original Triumph’s that you could wish to own and the type of classic that Milestones travel the country to find and buy. Finished in the stunning combination of Laurel Green with Tan Interior the car drives absolutely superbly and is well suited to modern roads – she cruises along effortlessly at 2500rpm/ 70mph.
Mechanically no effort or expense was ever spared during John’s ownership. The car has never been resprayed, is corrosion free (the underside is one of the best we have seen) and the original interior is like stepping back in time – it looks and feels two years old.
