The elegant and revealing line of these mid-engine two-seater Coupe cars designed by Gerard Godfroy is an undeniable success and will remain almost unchanged throughout the life of the brand in Gerfaut. In order to acquire its credibility as a sports car manufacturer, Venturi gets into the motor sport world in 1992, by becoming majority shareholder in Gerard LARROUSSE's Formula 1 team and also by organising the Gentlemen Drivers Trophy: a championship contested by driving enthusiasts and dedicated to the only 71 Venturi Trophy exclusively built for racing and able to break the 300 km/ h barrier.
Two years later, the factory introduces the 400 GT, a road version directly derived from the Venturi Trophy, of which the thundering V6 engine supercharged by twin-turbo compressors boosts 408 hp and can reach a top speed of 290 km/ h. It was then the fastest French car in automotive history. If we can recognise the design of a Venturi at first sight, the incredible 400 GT deliberately embraces a more provoking style with its huge rear spoiler and extended wings able to accomodate a large tyre mount for the track.
Registered first in January 1996, the 400 GT we are offering is the fourth produced out of the 13 registered, and bears an unique british green colour which beautifully complements the bucket seats upholstery tightened with its original tan leather. This car has only known two owners since 2002. The current owner has had a lot of work carried out since 2008. The bodywork was taken care of and the car was repainted in its original colour. Its proprietor has made sure to preserve the original interior which is in immaculate condition, except of the dashboard. As a former rally driver and careful user, he also makes sure the running gear is reviewed, the geometry perfectly aligned and fuel pumps replaced.
The car has only done 2, 000 km since 2008, bringing it to a total mileage of 43, 000 km to date. All the necessary care for those who would like to enjoy, with no restrictions, the breathtaking acceleration that a Venturi 400 GT is capable of. An exceptional car, with a spectacular performance, which will be sold with its original vintage user manual.
