1976 hit, and it was obvious to Suzuki that the ageing T500 needed an overhaul. Suzuki gave the T500 a new front end and a new front disc brake up front, along with some styling changes to freshen everything up. The GT500 is what came out of those changes, and as quickly as the GT500 came into being, it disappeared in 1977. That makes these bikes incredibly rare, and there are not many clean models around.
The one we have here is really nice condition. It has really nice deep blue gleaming paint-job. Bright chrome accentuates the frames of the bike. Lovely retro details finish the look of this bike, with chromed exhausts a split fender, headlight and headers up front. This bike gleams.
This is great 2-stroke machine that got some refinement over the years as the T500, that puts out 44bhp at 6000rpm, making it a little less revvy than it’s smaller displacement cousins. The GT500 carried all of the best qualities from the T500 it replaced. Stopping is done with a disc up front, and a drummed rear, and the suspension is perfectly suited for back-road riding. This bike has a lot of life ahead of it, with only 6311 mls indicated on the clocks. This is a perfect bike if you want something you can ride daily, but with the added two-stroke punch.
