Charming and original, oily rag style Simca badged Fiat Topolino.
We are facilitating the sale of this car on behalf of a customer.
History of this car
The Simca Cinq is a Simca badged Fiat 500 “il Topolino”. It was assembled under license in the Simca Nanterre plant. This example is a rare pre war version registered new in France on 1/ 1/ 1939; as far as we can tell, it has always lived in the south of France until imported to the UK in 2015 by the current owner, a prominent historic motorsports figure.
This delightful example is presented in very original “dans son jus” condition. The previous owner, a well known Bugatti restorer, used this car daily for local journeys, although it has not seen any use since importation.
We have had the car running and driving sweetly, although further mechanical checks are recommended before taking to the roads again; as such, the car is sold as a light project.
The Simca is French registered and has French papers. We can help the new owner register the car in the UK if needs be.
Body
This is a solid, accident free car that presents smartly in light grey paintwork, the most appropriate delivery colour. It has been repainted, but many years ago, with various small imperfections visible today. The new owner would presumably want to keep the patina of this beautiful old paint.
Mechanics
On our road test, our car’s engine sounds healthy and has good oil pressure. The 4 speed transmission shifts well and the steering feels nice. It has some braking ability but further checks in this department are required.
Supplied with the Simca is a spare more powerful OHV engine with ancillaries, and a spare gearbox. This spare OHV engine is believed but not warranted as having been rebuilt.
Interior
With the exception of later carpets, the trim is largely original in a very cool tartan fabric, with is in nice condition, with patina.
Summary
Supplied with workshop and owner’s manuals and many spares including an OHV engine, gearbox and other parts.
